A Teacher for Laynie: Mystery at the Academy (Part 2)

*Truman nods. Vanitri's attacks seem to have no effect on the creature.*

"And I still have this:" he fires a small ray of frost at Vanitri's target, which appears to slow it, and then he carries Lex off to go find Kharisa Valpyren.

*Vanitri's target slams at him and mises, as he barely dodges the blow from the slowed creature.*

"Vanitri--these things are immune to magic. Let me help you become stronger, okay?" if Vanitri accepts, she transforms him into an Ogre, "See the gilded pedestal? It's actually made of adamantine and you can probably use it as a makeshift club. I'll let the stone down carefully."

Vanitri grabs the pedistil waits for the stone to move before he slams the creature with the plate.

OOC: Is Rayne doing anything?

(OOC: She seems to be out cold, or at least if that isn't true, she hasn't moved since slamming into the ground)

*Elayna waves her hands and gently lowers the stone with magic to sit on the ground nearby, careful to keep it out of the way of the fight or anything that might jostle it.*

*Vantri grabs the pedestal and slams it into the slowed creature. It doesn't seem so large anymore, really, as an ogre, and the pedestal thwacks it with a satisfying 'thunk' knocking it backwards slightly.*

*Then both of the creatures come to bear against him, and though his new natural armour helps him shrug off the attack from the slowed creature, the double slam from the other that took out Rayne is half-successful, smashing Vanitri hard and knocking the wind out, but not fazing him.*

"Let me try a basic transmutation to help you go faster," Elayna offers, casting a quick incantation that causes Vanitri to feel himself moving faster.

(OOC: G1 takes 19 Damage
Vanitri takes 9 Damage, down to 25

Vanitri is Hasted.)

(OOC: He's hitting really easily, so probably might as well fight defensively for +3 AC)

*Vanitri strikes twice against the massive creature, scoring powerful blows against it while holding up the pedestal defensively to block attacks. This time, however, he still only manages to prevent a single attack.*

"One more solid blow!" Elayna calls out, as she moves close to Vanitri so she can lay her hands on his wounds, "I can't heal this, but maybe I can help you become tougher."

(OOC: G1 takes 36 Damage, total 55.

Vanitri takes 23 Damage and is down to 2

Vanitri gains +4 Con, thus raises his HP to 10)

*The first swing slams into the stitched creature Vanitri has been attacking and shatters the tubes and stitching connecting it, causing it to begin to collapse with a groan that eerily sounds somehow...contented. As it falls, a wispy faint outline of a spirit emerges. Meanwhile, Vanitri hits the second creature as well.*

"An innocent soul...trapped inside that thing for so long to power it...Horrific. No wonder it went completely berserk. Rest now. You need no longer fight, and you can move on in peace knowing that you did not kill anyone and your passing will be used to help save another innocent," she shoots a crimson beam that strikes the rising soul, and it flows into the philosopher's stone, which glows just a bit brighter, "The poor thing...apparently that only counted as half, but at least in helping set them free, nobody else must die now," Elayna smiles.

*The remaining creature, however, does not smile. It growl in uttery fury and slams at Vanitri twice, striking only once, but nearly knocking him down, leaving him barely standing.*

"Vanitri! Are you going to be okay?"

(OOC: G1 takes 15 Damage and passes on.
G2 takes 20 Damage

Vanitri takes 9 Damage)

"No, I didn't realise I was going to have to be doing this today. That's all I have for useful buffs. Maybe Rayne has a potion," she kneels down and rummages through Rayne's pockets, pulling one out, "This is a decent healing potion, but I can't get it to you yet. You're going to have to grab it from me and drink it."
