Looks like it could be decent - directed by the guy who directed Wanted.

Anybody read the book? Is it decent/fun?

I wasn't too impressed with the trailer - the action scenes seemed too over the top and prone to shaky-cam-ness. I'm not a fan of that. Hopefully the movie will actually have some of the story of the book in with all the action.

The book was pretty decent, I thought. A good alternate history, with the Civil War as a vampiric grab for power and the South as a bunch of quislings trying to become the favorite sheep. There were a few too many dream sequences masquerading as real action scenes, that was about my only gripe with the writing. Been a while since I read it, though.

I just find the concept to be very odd, but perhaps the movie will surprise me when it comes out. Time will tell I guess.

The trailer is obviously a grab for pre-teen/teen viewers.

The book was good (though Sense and Sensibilities and Sea Monsters, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and Queen Elizabeth: Demon Slayer were all better.) and should lend itself to a good ole popcorn muncher. Not up for any Oscars when it's all said and done, but will eventually become a cult classic, me thinks.

I just wish Hollyweird would get away from bullet-time camera usage. Slow-motion and panning angles are so overdone they are becoming cheesy.
