D&D 5E Abridged October Playtest Packet added to Ghosts of Dragonspear Castle and Vault of the Dracolich

The two existing Next adventures have had an abridged October packet added to the downloads.

Vault is $5 so is the cheapest option.

This is in addition to the new adventure Scourge of the Sword Coast.

Quote from the How to Play Section:

D&D Next Interim Rules Supplement
December 1, 2013
This presentation of the D&D Next rules is an
interim document intended to serve those
playing Scourge of the Sword Coast and Dead in
Thay. It presents no addition rules material
beyond what previously appeared in the playtest
packet on dndnext.com.
As a reminder, you are looking at portions of
the game, not the whole thing. Because of that
fact, you might find things in the rules that are
unclear or that refer to elements of the game
that don’t appear in the public playtest.

The Bestiary is not included. SotSC has a 20 page Bestiary after the 63 page module.

The Magic Item document is minus most of the rare items, and anything very rare or higher.

The Classes document only has the first 10 levels of each class.

The format has been tweaked slightly with Resistances, Immunities and Skills standardized.

Most of the creatures in the SotSC Bestiary are not in the October Bestiary and there are slight changes to the ones that are.

The format has more creatures per page with 2-4 per page.

Strangely, level and XP values are not listed per creature. The characters advance in level based on milestones in the plot.

We were instructed by WotC to add those files to the previous D&D Next PDFs this week. Happy to see the word getting out.

If anyone is looking for them you can download them from the Library section of your Account page.

The file(s) are the same in all three adventures (the adventures being different of course).

Regards,

Matt

Thanks for stopping by to comment Matt -- great to have someone from DND Classics posting here.

If you don't mind, I have two other questions for you:

1. There have been three D&D titles announced as "coming next week" on DND Classics by WotC, but which were never actually released. Specifically: PHBR14: The Complete Barbarian's Handbook, DMGR8: Sages and Specialists and Volo's Guide to the North. What happened to those titles? Any chance we'll see the gaps in those three series patched?

2. What's the best way to report missing components from PDFs on the site? There are a few releases with missing bits (GAZ4: The Kingdom of Ierendi, HR2: Charlemagne's Paladins Campaign Sourcebook, HR6: Age of Heroes Campaign Sourcebook and FR3: Empires of the Sands are all missing maps, for example.)

Thanks!

Occasionally we get files that just don't work for a vast array of reasons, so rather than selling a bad file, we deactivate the title until we can get a better version available. Sometimes this means getting them from the WotC archivist, other times that means getting a copy off the secondary market and scanning it ourselves. Some are fairly easy to get, others not so much. A title can often be found used with ease, but a copy that can be scanned correctly? Note always the easiest thing. Then there is approvals and all that.

We usually report these to WotC and when possible we update the files, but it isn't always the easiest thing as noted above. Usually we get lots of these reports using the Contact Us link at the bottom of the site and we collect them and pass them on to WotC or see what we can do in house. Some of the older maps are surprisingly difficult to find a map that is quality enough to use for scanning.

Matt
