Addicted to buying 1e AD&D Player's Handbooks!

I think I have an addiction. Whenever I see a copy of the First Edition AD&D Player's Handbook (the one with the idol cover), I buy it.

You know, just in case I can ever talk 4 people into playing a First Edition game. :)

It's only a problem if you have more than five copies ... or whatever the typical 1e party size was. Is it causing a problem with work, relationships or the law? Or finances? If not, then it's not a serious problem.

How many do you have? You realize you might be preventing other people from buying it and experiencing 1e without you?

(Not that I would know. I've never played 1e, and have only seen 1e's Monster Manual and Fiend Folio. I don't even like 2e, so I guess I probably wouldn't like 1e either. But I still had to point that out.)

I had that problem until I realized that I could download and print copies of the more up-to-date OSRIC. Now I have a another addiction entirely :)

Umm, yeah. Actually, I think the average party size for 1E was supposed to be 6-8. :)

Try Half Price Books. There are at least two or three of them at just the Mason, OH, location. They sell for around $10 each.

I haven't bought any because I have no use for them. I only ever played Basic D&D during that time period, so that's where my nostalgial lies. I would definitely like to find a Rules Cyclopedia, but I never see those in used bookstores, and the ones on Ebay are just too expensive for a nostalgia-only purchase.

I know where one is selling in good condition for $15. Shoot me an email and I'll give you the contact info for the bookstore. I'm 80% certain that, if you pay shipping, they'll do a mail-order transaction.

Thanks for the warning. Whenever I see one, I'll keep my hands off. I'll promise :).
