[Adventure] A Call for Lovers (DM: jbear Judge:Lord Sessadore)

Sir Flibbertigibbet drops his sword, which vanishes, and flops down on the ground, looking thoroughly spent. But after listening to Sabynha for a little while, he feels quite a lot better, and regains most of his cheer. "Not at all, not at all, good lady," he says. "We can certainly deal with far worse. A bit of a warm-up, hmm?"

[sblock=surges]Sir F has to spend 3 surges to fully heal. Only 2 left, yikes. He really took a beating.[/sblock]

GM: Oops, forgot about the plant ... Never mind. I will just fluff it out of the way and not count it as a threat in the combat. It will save Wat and Zuri a couple of lost surges no doubt.

As Sabynha approaches the plant she recognises it as a dangerous Lover's Scorn Weed, a plant scorned Vistani are known to use (often in combination with a nest of fire ants) to hold and torture unfaithful lovers. "Get away from there!" she cries. Not a moment too soon Wat and Zuri step away from the plant, just as the plant whips out two long thorny fronds in an attempt to snare the two unsuspecting hero's in it vampric hold.

OOC: Heh, actually it was Rain next to it. It was a risk, but Rain was chasing the last Boggle down.

Rain hears Sabynha's warning and rapidly backpedals to join the rest of the group by going the long way round.

Zuri joins Sir Flibbertigibbet, resting on the grass for a while.

Rain takes a look around and stands guard. Noticing the state of the pixie and Zuri, she nods to Wat, "Perhaps you should use the ritual to aid our companions future healing? I can help."

[sblock=Zuri's surges]Zuri uses 2 healing surges. With the Song of Rest, it puts her on full, but down to 3 surges.[/sblock]

GM: If you are waiting for me, I am also waiting for you :) I will move things myself if no one has posted by the weekend (NZ time)

"That was close! I almost didn't recognise it at first."

Sabynha felt ashamed, somewhat, but mostly glad it didn't turn out worse.

"My people call it 'the lover's scorn,' and, suffice to say, you don't want to cross a vistani in matters of the heart." She shot a sly, but playful wink and side-glance toward Wat.

"Sometimes the scorned lover will combine it with fire ants for extra effect. Since my family are boat-people, it is uncommon for us to use, but I have... heard stories."

***

At the mention of ritual magic, Sabynha quickly offers to help. She had always found such magic intriguing, even if she never took the proper time to master its use.

OOC: @jbear - I took the 'Ritual Beneficiary' benefit as part of my 'Signs of Influence' class feature of the Skald, and I know it specifically applies to NPC ritual casters, but can I appeal to your good nature to have it work in this case as well?

Sabynha was eager to help and very quickly slid over to a spot beside Wat. She took the salve from him, her touch lingering a little longer than necessary; she spoke slowly.

"Show me what I must do."

With the bard's touch, it became very difficult to concentrate on the ritual. He wasn't lost in thought, such a thing was hardly possible, but rather in her eyes. To some they would have been just brown. But Wat had gazed into them before and he had gained an appreciation for them like an artist appreciates every brush stroke, the way the browns changed shading or mingled with flecks of green.

Only when she pulled away, did Wat snap out of the trance of her beauty. "Of course," he said have barely heard her voice.

"Everyone watch and follow me."

He reached out and took back the hand that had pulled away. Wat broke the seal on the vial. The salve was a smooth and cold as it poured along his finger. Oily, but not greasy. He traced the first rune along Sabynha's hand carefully swirling his finger through the natural creases before turning her palm up to finish the design. He then traced a different symbol on the other, slowly, both to carefully demonstrate, and to allow his touch to linger as much as possible. A final rune began on Sabynha's forehead and then radiated outward to her temples.

Finally he handed the vial back to Sabynha. "Now, let's see if you can follow all that."

She looked at the patterns on her hands as a noblewoman admiring jewelry beyond her station; with wonder and awe.

"Shall I do this to you, or one of the others?" Even as she asked the question, she moved toward him, which belied her true feelings on the matter.

[sblock=unnecessary die roll]Making an Arcana check to see if she can, in fact, follow his lead properly on her own. If she fails, I'm sure Wat wouldn't mind correcting her.

Well, I guess she's got it down! ;)[/sblock]
