Ha ha, true enough! Especially at first level - the defender always seems to be the one to go down. I just think it's funny that my very first 4E pbp fight wound up with my character hitting once and then getting knocked out cold. An inauspicious start, eh?

Here's hoping I roll a 20 on my dying save, pop up back to 6 hp, and run that mercenary bastard through...

Wow, what a round for ben and the baddies. Now Abi is down and I'm at 7 with no second wind. So do I use my last Lay on Hands for the day and try to stay im the fight or use my daily on the mage, which if it hits will bring down his AC for the Dante and anyone else who wants to hit him?

Why can't you do both? Heal yourself, and then lay down your daily? Lay on Hands IS only a minor action. But yeah, it's definitely time to lay out the dailies, methinks.[/sblock]

Dante and Virgil move in unison, flanking the leader of the mercenaries as Dante's kama tear into the man, one kama hitting the man in the center of the chest, the other grazing his head as the merc ducks the blow.

[sblock=Actions]Move action: Dante shifts to H19, Virgil Shifts to H21.
Minor action: Quarry ML.
Standard action: Jaws of the Wolf on ML. Attack 1: 1d20 + 9 = 29 (crit) for 26 damage(4d4+4+1d6 maxed). Attack 2: 1d20 + 9 = 11, miss for 4d4+4 = 12 / 2 = 6 damage.

Also, when I used my minor action, can't I use that to trigger one of Virgil's healing surges, rather than one of mine? I don't have Martial Powers so I can't check that stuff easily.[/sblock]

[sblock=Tactics]I was typing this up at the same time you guys were so I didn't see the discussion until after I posted. I saw that I could get CA on the leader for my daily, so I took the opportunity... Focus on stuff that's hurt I think, we need to reduce their damage output fast. So, I think that means focusing fire on the other merc, then maybe the leader since I've softened him up?[/sblock]

As she watches Abigail fall, Talks-to-the-Moon finally loses her composure. "Hra! Little fool! I kill you filthy!" And she does. Before he has a chance to turn around, she steps in behind him and stabs him twice: once at the base of the spine, and once in the heart. Just to make sure.

Also, you should definitely lay on hands; this fight looks like it might go to an endurance contest and right now we can't win one of those.[/sblock][sblock=Actions]Move: Shift to B18.
Standard: Magic Weapon the merc, 18 versus AC, 6 damage.
Action Point Standard Action: Magic Weapon him again! 22 versus AC, 8 damage.[/sblock][sblock=Tactics]Unless I've grieveously miscalculated, that's the mercenary taken care of.

Eraden: a thought on containing those archers. After your swing at the ML, how about a shift to F20? That traps the wizard between you and Virgl, pins A2 to the wall, and forces A1 to come toward me if he wants to shoot anyone safely.[/sblock][sblock=Mini Stats]Talks-to-the-Moon - Githyanki Artificer 1

[sblock=Nice!]Great crit, and the timing couldn't be better.[/sblock]

[sblock=Question to Ben]Is the Mercenary leader bloodied?[/sblock]

[sblock=Tactics]I'm thinking of using my daily to perhaps finish off the leader. Thoughts?[/sblock]

[sblock=Tactics]Do as much damage as you can as fast as you can. We're teetering on the bloody edge of a TPK here and it's going to take everything we have and a bit of luck besides to survive this.[/sblock]

[sblock=Spring Break]Heading down to Canyonlands, Utah starting tomorrow morning. I'll check up on the thread tonight, but then I'm out until late next week. Wik can take over running Dante as of tomorrow (since Abigail is down) until I get back.[/sblock]

Alastair winces as he stands, his opponents' arrows sticking out of him like a pin cushion.

"Enough of this," he shouts, while pulling a cod out from under his tunic. He turns to face the mercenary leader with malice in his eyes, and in hushed tones, he speaks of a prophecy glimpsed in the blank face of dead Zhudun. Then with a great shout, he raises his voice:

"There is but one true light,
One star not mere mirror
Or stolen sheen: the first
Illumination, ere
Any other being.
Look upon the Bane of Cendriane
Behold the face of the Doom
And despair!"
