Adventure: Delivery of Death (DM: Luinnar, Judge: renau1g)

The party makes their way towards the bakery. On the way you see people looking out their doors or windows at you, eager to see these (in their eyes) strange creatures that have entered their town. Despite Jax's words to him, Luc follow closely behind Ingot.

When you enter the bakery you are greeted with the wonderful smell of fresh baked bread. It is a small establishment. A stone open hearth is off to one corner; you can feel it radiating with heat. On the walls are shelves with baskets and jars displaying various items. Long loaves of bread, strange things with holes in them labeled as "bagels", small cakes and pies, strange puffy pastries with powered sugar on them called "beneighs", and the specialty, red licorice.

A plump women comes out of the back room. She has a red face and is wearing a white outfit with an apron. She plays the part of baker well. "Welcome mon ami to my fine establishment!" she says in her rather deep voice. "You wanted to talk to me, no? Or perhaps buy something?" she inquires eagerly.

OOC: You still have time to get healing if you have not done yet already.

Also remember Ingot has the package.

Quickly forgetting what they came for, Kasha gazes wide-eyed at the pretty pastries. "I'll take one of these puffy thingies here," she chips in immediately at the suggestion of buying something.

OOC: Okay, spending one surge with Healing Word. Kasha's topped, Ingot gets 4hp.

Dorn chuckles, amused to see the rogue blind-sided by a pastry.

"I guess I'll have one too," he says.

Though RAM TIGER doesn't have much of a sweet tooth, the smell of the freshly-baked pastries has him salivating more than all of Pavlov's dogs combined.

I WANT THE CUSTARD-FILLED ONE AND ALL OF YOUR ORGANS, TO GO.

OOC: Two Healing Words on RAM TIGER (1d6+4=6, 1d6+4=7) leaves him at 38/40 hp and 7/11 surges remaining.

Jax does not linger near the pastries as the others are. Instead, he quickly walks to the hearth and kneels down by it. The kobold sighs contentedly.

"Actually, there is something else. We have a package for you." He motions to Ingot.

[sblock=DM]A bakery shop, eh? Are there any of those small metal tongs lying about?[/sblock]

OOC: OK, Ingot is back to 18 + 12 = 30 after the three healing words. Will use one more on itself... 11 + 6 more, exactly back up to full at 47, 2 surges used.

Ingot regards the treats on display as if they are museum pieces, looking at each in turn for a few seconds as if entering them in a mental catalog. Prompted by Jax, it straightens. "Ah, yes." It retrieves the package from its pack and holds it out to the woman.

That will be one silver each, s'il vous plait. says Louise d'Cann, passing out the various orders. She even understood RAM TIGER, who through much pointing and salivating was able to direct her a custard filled pastry (though thankfully she did not understand the organ part). Meanwhile Jax notices various metal implements used to stoke the fire of the hearth and serve the baked goods, including the metal tongs he was looking for. After you pay she finally looks at the package.

GM: I'm going to assume that everyone pays for their food. If it is too expensive you can decline (but you will miss out on all the delicious goodness!)

She opens the small package. Inside is a piece of red licorice, identical to the ones in jars on the shelves. Her face grows red. Is this some kind of joke Monsieur?! she says, her voice raised. You laugh at me, that my famous licorice has been found at all the disappearances and bloody murders that been happening in Marais d’Tarascon?! I'll have you know Monsieur, she spits out this last word, that I have nothing to do with these things! I am a respectable member of society!

"Woah, woah, woah," Kasha mumbles through a mouth full of delicious pastry and cream.

"We... mmmph... we were just hired to deliver the package, okay? Mmmm, this is really good. Um. We didn't know what was in it. What's this about your licorice?"

While Louise is flustered with her denials, Jax rises from the hearth and nonchalantly wanders over to one of the displays of pastries.

[sblock=DM]Jax wants one of the especially reflective metal tongs. Thievery check to take it unnoticed: 26. I'm away from books atm, but I think it's against passive perception.

Edit: not passive perception. Sleight of Hand is probably right (base DC 15). If the tongs are too big to take unnoticed, Jax grabs something smaller, but equally shiny (coins if any happen to be lying around, but he really wants those tongs...)[/sblock]

He lingers by a selection of warm, freshly baked muffins, but he does not eat any. "Forget the licorice, what bloody murders? Not the one in the street just a few minutes ago, you mean?" Jax slyly refers to the incident with the zombie.

While the woman is talking about her innocence, you quietly slip the shiny metal tongs into your bag, unnoticed by anyone in the room.[/sblock]
Murders... strange deaths... disappearances... all these things been happening for three weeks!. At the place of the murders and where people disappeared, they find my red licorice! I cannot explain it, whoever is doing these things must have a bad sense of humor! My licorice does not get up and kidnap and kill people! she says waving her hands about. Maybe your friend has something to do with this? What did he look like? Was he from the village?

You tell the constable about him
, she says not waiting for a reply. I hear there was another murder recently. Right next to Fiora's Cottage south of the church. Poor women! She has enough trouble already with her daughter missing!
