Adventure: Escort Duty (DM: KarinsDad, Judge: TBD)

As the group follows the trail, a horn sounds from the outpost. The team sees some creatures with bows at the outpost, bringing their arrows to bear towards the group. They look similar in appearance to the bandits that first attacked the group. These creatures have the advantage of cover behind the walls of the outpost (the creatures are about 15 feet above the ground behind the walls).

OOC: An encounter. What a surprise! Everyone please roll perception and initiative.

OOC: Invisible castle seems to be down right now. Init +3, Perception +2 (though I'd just rolled above).
How much of the trail is within bow range of archers we can see right now? If they can only reasonably get one or two shots off without coming down from the wall and chasing after us, I'd be inclined to just ignore them unless they do so.

OOC: The archers have you at a disadvantage. Since the PCs moved down the trail and not towards the outpost, the archers are about 100 feet away (20 squares), so you are within their range, but they are not within the range of most PC abilities. In addition, they are behind the cover of the wall.

Use whatever system that we used before when IC was down.

Also, 4M asked a question previously that I had forgotten to answer. The weapons that the previous group had were: spear, longspear, greatclub, heavy flail, and staff.

Initiative: 15
Perception: 16

Hilkalas curses in some unknown language. "I hope this mistake from you makes you realize your inferiority in the tactical realm." he hisses.

"There is no mistake. They would not have laid down their weapons had we approached the outpost. Our best tactic is still avoidance."

OOC: I'm still not seeing how approaching the tower and committing to a fight is better than starting at a distance with the option to flee with a head start. I suppose that the worst case scenario is that there are others hiding ready to block the trail and cut off our escape, but if that's the situation than our initial choice was a false one.
