Adventure: Fire and Ice

[sblock=Hadrak]Yeah, no worries, I had max HP plus temp hp, it's bad luck the gnoll hit me for max damage (maybe he critted?) It's part of the game. And at least most of the monks have gotten away.[/sblock]
[sblock=Crag's Interrupts]So, having actually looked at Crag's interrupt powers rather than relying on some vague recollection, I see that he couldn't use Warden's Fury for the attack which might have finished the marked hyena, because it wasn't within his melee range. I'll remember not to move so far away from him next time. He could have used Warden's Grasp, though, which would have let him slide the hyena. It's an interrupt, so I think it would have pretty much foiled the hyena's attack, because he could have slid it out of its melee range.

No doubt, Ingot would still have needed healing, though, after that nasty arrow![/sblock]

[sblock=Crag's Interrupts]
FYI Warden's Fury is an Immediate Interrupt, Grasp on the other hand is a Immediate Reaction, only triggers after the attack

[sblock=OOC]Ah, gotcha. Well, it's water under the bridge now, that hyena has been taken out... :)[/sblock]

[sblock=ooc] Wow... I really need to start checking during the weekends more... I thought you didn't normally post on weekends ren? Am I wrong about that?

Anywho, yeah, as renau1g stated, I can only get an Immediate Interrupt swipe at an enemy if he's within attacking range of me, otherwise, if it's within 5 squares of me, they are automatically pulled, slowed, and can't shift as an Immediate reaction. Sorry, wardens can take a pretty nasty hit, but they're not fighters or paladins I'm afraid...
[/sblock]

Seeing his friend viciously attacked, he charges around the reach of the hyenas and plunges his sword into the ground, calling upon Terra for help. Earthen spikes erupt beneath the hyenas, moving fluidly of their own volition, though they heed Crags will and skirt completely around Ingot. The razor thin spikes form a protective barrier around Ingot, but leave an open path to Crag.

"Pick on someone else you overgrown fur balls! Come and get a piece of me instead, you low breed cowards!"

[sblock=Actions]
- Move Action: Move from I12 > H12 > G12 > F11 > G10.
- Standard Action: Crag uses Earth Spikes, which hits Hyena 4 for 12 damage and creates a zone in Hyena 4's square and all of the squares adjacent to Hyena 4 until the END of Crag's next turn. Any ENEMY who moves into or starts it's turn in the zone takes 5 damage.
- Free Action: Mark both Hyena's next to Ingot and taunt them =P

HP: 42/42 + 5 Temp HP Bloodied: 21 S.Value: 10 Surges: 13/14

Current Conditions: None

Powers:

Warden's Fury, Warden's Grasp, Strength of Stone, Thorn Strike
Earth Spikes, Warforged Resolve
Form of the Willow Sentinel

Note on Warden's Fury and Warden's Grasp:

Warden's Fury gives me a free attack against any of my marked foes adjacent to me that attack any of my allies (as an Immediate Interupt). If it hits, it does my normal basic attack damage, but it also makes the target grant combat advantage until the end of my next turn.

Warden's Grasp lets me slide any of my marked foes within 5 squares of me that attack any of my allies. The slide is one square and it also slows them and doesn't allow them to shift until the end of it's turn (this is an Immediate Reaction).
[/sblock]

[sblock=Note to Rengau1g] If I mark (a) creature(s), and they attack my friends, please feel free to use either Warden's Fury or Warden's Grasp (whichever is appropriate to the situation). This way, if I don't get a chance to post during a round after my own turn, people don't have to wait on me for my mark powers to work. Thanks! [/sblock]

No worries Kal, I normally don't, but this past weekend, I had a bit more free time than expected, while my wife took the kids to her parents.

Edit: A warden's mark is great against flying foes however, if you immobilize them, they're usually in for a world of hurt.

Ingot gets to its feet, still obviously shaken and in need of repair. "Thank you, friend," it says to Hadrak. "Another new experience! But this one, I would have been happy to do without..." It takes up a defensive stance, gathering its strength.

[sblock=Hyenas]If I've got everything straight, only Hyenas 1 and 4 remain. 1 is at 21/37, 4 is at 25/27. Both should take 5 more damage at the start of their turns from Crag's zone.[/sblock]

Dorn stands in awe of Hadrak's display for a moment before acting. He steps toward the remaining hyenas and sends another rolling wave of flame from his hands, blasting one of the beasties

"Gonna make me pay for that, too?" Dorn shouts, a trifle foolishly.

Not that it makes a difference in this attack, but it appears you added +2 for CA, which you don't currently have (Ingot was KO'd at the time). No difference though.

''No, Ingot, a faithful of Eefaystos does not go down so easily, get up!'' Hadraks shouts, imparting the will of his god to these words. The warforge immediately opens his eyes.

Hadrak then turns his attention to the hyena.

-''Enough!'' he snarls and bolts from heaven strike left and right, slaying two beasts.

Ingot gets to its feet, still obviously shaken and in need of repair. "Thank you, friend," it says to Hadrak. "Another new experience! But this one, I would have been happy to do without..." It takes up a defensive stance, gathering its strength.

[sblock=ooc] wow... I haven't been a very good defender in this fight... I haven't taken a single hit and Ingot has been on a hit point roller-coaster. Sorry guys! I'll try to do better! [/sblock]

[sblock=ooc]About time that gnoll missed!
No worries Kalidrev... actually Hyena 4 should be taking your divine challenge damage for attacking Ingot. Also Crag has Hyena 1 marked, though again I guess it's out of melee range, he can do the Warden's Grasp thingie on it for whatever that's worth.

renau1g, how can we get up onto that wall to go after the gnoll, are there stairs or anything?

also I'm worried the gnoll will try to flee when we finish the hyenas... though I'm not sure what we can do about it.[/sblock]

Dorn steps cautiously backwards (OOC: move one square NE). As he readies his attack, he is distracted by the snarling beasts and can't seem to pull the requisite energies out of himself (OOC: Chaos bolt misses)
