Well, Hedra wants 5 bushels, and she gets her request filled first. I have no problem with any extra's going toward Balsamic. replies Chaku, hefting the bushel with little difficulty, and tieing it down carefully onto one of the pack mules, testing it's ability to shift and slide before be satisfied it won't fall off too easily.

The big question is what to do with you, Krassus. We don't have time to go back to Fullcrumb as that will pretty much end any remaining hours in the day. So it's really, do you come with us and watch the pack animals, or do we let you flee on your own like Jaronelle. While he is speaking he goes about replacing the stones in the cistern, doing his best to make the location look undisturbed.

As the hobgolblins leave and the others start discussing what to do next, Azryah turns her attention back to Krassus. Her voice is void of emotion as she speaks to him, her tone even. In her eyes, there is nothing to be emotional about, she is simply laying out facts.

"Sending any beans to Balsame will have to be Hedra's decision as far as I'm concerned. She said she wanted us to get ALL of it, although Castofle only has to choose 5 bushels out of what we bring him. If you explain your story to her, she may agree to send a sample over there.

For getting back to Fulcrum, I wasn't lying when I said I am Merkari's messenger, and in that capacity it is my sworn duty to keep the peace on the roads. However, I also promised Hedra that I would not deviate from our assigned task, so I second that we cannot return you to Fulcrum right now. If you don't want to stay here on your own and don't want to go after Jaronel, I suppose we can take you with us, but it seems more than likely that we will run into more danger. I suggest that if we find somewhere that looks safe along the way, you may want to stay in such a location.

We are on a tight schedule however, so make your decision quickly because we really need to be moving on if we're going to track those marauders while there is still daylight to track with."

She turns away and sets about getting her things in order.

Krassus pales. "You're - you're still planning to go after those crazies?" He gulps.

After thinking for a few moments, he continues. "I still think that's a terrible idea, but I'd rather stick with you than be left here on my own... Here's another idea. Instead of chasing after them, we could go to Newhill! They might have some zocalti to sell there. It'd be much safer than getting tangled up with the raiders." He looks around hopefully.

Azryah turns back to Karassus and gives him a sharp look.

"No," she states simply; then turns back to her preparations still talking.

"Not only would that be violating our agreement with Hedra, but I would be a disgrace to the gods if I did not seek out those raiders and show them Merkari's wrath. That is my task in this life."

Jynxx shrugged as his ally spoke, "Tales aren't told about the people who do what is "safer." Come Krasseus, with us you will have a story to tell your ancestors in the next life."

Jynxx's smile grew wider as he watched Krasseus to see if his casual mention of death had caught his attention. "There is nothing to fear, my companions are very able to do what most cannot. You are safer with them than on your own, and I daresay safer with us than you would be at town."

Jynxx turns his eyes downward, hoping to spot tracks left by the attackers.

I figured it was an active perception check... so here it is 1d20+10=19[/sblock]

Krassus looks very miserable as he listens to the deva's and the kalashtar's words.

[sblock=ooc]Ok, so far plan seems to be go after the raiders and bring Krassus. Jynxx, Azryah, and (I think) Chaku agree on this plan. If one more PC gives the nod, I'll take that as consensus and we'll move on. (Unless a PC raises strong objections, then maybe we'll wait for more discussion.)

Regarding tracking, you'll want to head back to the gate first to try to pick up the trail. It will indeed be an active perception check... I think the best way to handle it is to have a primary tracker (probably Jynxx) and anyone else who wants to can aid him. I may call for a few other skill checks, but we'll worry about that when we get to it.[/sblock]

Chaku nods in agreement with Azryah and Jynxx's comments. Yes, we hunt. No one should have their homes or work ransacked and the brigands escape. His knuckles go white as he clenches hard on his maul. Not again, not while I can help it.

Turning toward Jynxx, Hey Lucky, you seem the most observant, you should take point, I'll stick close to make usre you don't walk into rash plants.

Krassus, you seem worried, you can stay to the rear and lead the pack animals. He offer the mules leads to him before heading down toward the gate with Jynxx.

"We do not wish to leave you here alone," Kaeysari says to Krassus, "and we feel we must complete this mission. Even if we get the beans from elsewhere, these people will be back. If you wish to continue farming here, we have to stop them. If you don't want to come with us, we won't drag you, but we have to go do this, and quickly before the trail grows cold. I'm sorry for this hardship, but if we don't do this it won't ever end."
