Adventure: Food of the Gods (DM: ryryguy, Judge: renau1g)

[sblock=Update]So sorry for the delay, everybody. Between working extra hours and other commitments soaking up my remaining free time I have still not found time to get ready. I'm hoping to be able to update on Friday night. If not then, definitely Saturday at some point.[/sblock]

[sblock=ooc]Whew, sorry to take so long... I'm still working a bit on a map, but it will be finished soon so I think we can get underway. Made the deadline at work so I hope to be able to keep up better from here.[/sblock]
[sblock=Cillani]Let me know if you want to change your elemental manifestation. If I don't hear anything I'll assume it's still fire.[/sblock]
[sblock=Jynxx]I noticed you have the Virtue of Prescience feature that I don't believe you've used yet. Interrupts like that are a bit of a pain in PbP, so please try to give me some indication of the type of situation where you'd like to use it. E.g., "Use it at the first chance it will negate any hit," or "use it to negate a hit on Cillani or Azryah," or "use it to negate the next hit on any bloodied PC", or "use it to negate a hit from the dragon's breath weapon", etc. (And you can change this direction each round if you like.)[/sblock]
[sblock=travel times]Looking back over earlier posts I see I described the time from Fulcrum to near Newhill as taking two hours. (Maybe this is why it seemed to some like you wouldn't have time to make the round trip several times if needed?) I think I'd rather say that the trip takes two hours "officially". However, I will also guarantee that travel times will *not* cause you to miss your deadline in this adventure. Assume that if necessary for the story, you can "hustle" to make the trip in less time without any problem.[/sblock]
On the way out of town, Krassus inquires about the visit to the pyramid. "Were you able to get any beans?" He shrinks back from answering glares and doesn't ask further.

The road takes you back into the thick jungle, alive with animal and insect sounds, maybe a bit louder now at dusk than during your journey earlier in the day. The swooping silhouettes of bats dart frequently above and across the road. The temperature has dropped considerably, aided by a cooling breeze, and those in heavy armor feel a lot more comfortable than before.

A few minutes outside of the Magari colony, you pass the side track which leads to the ruined plantation. Krassus eyes it sorrowfully, but remains silent.

A quarter hour after that, the soft whisper of the river you crossed becomes audible, and small glimpses of it are visible ahead through the foliage. The road leads around a bend, and the suspension bridge lies straight ahead. About a third of the way across is a figure heading towards your side. In the dim light of dusk it's hard to be sure of details, but it appears to be a human - human sized, at least - and dressed like one of the Magari villagers - not wearing much, at least. It is not obviously armed.

The figure freezes in place for a moment, then turns and begins moving quickly towards the opposite side. (Not quite running, but close.)

[sblock=ooc]What do you want to do? We're not going in initiative or actions yet, but the figure is moving away and the distance will increase unless you move to follow. (It is currently 15 squares away - you may attack if you have the range or indicate that you'd like to attack as soon as you do get into range.)[/sblock]

Jynxx motions for the party to stop, "Halt my good traveler. We are in need some some assistance if you have the mindset to do so. Pray come closer and speak with us, for we are not familiar with this region."

[sblock=ooc]

Jynxx will use Words of Friendship and will repeat the message telepathically if he thinks the subject cannot understand his speech.
1d20+15=35 WOOT![/sblock]

[sblock=ooc]Note, the figure is too far away for telepathy.

If anyone else wants to do anything, let me know. Otherwise I will assume you stop as Jynxx suggests.[/sblock]

The figure slows and looks back over its shoulder at Jynxx's entreaty, but continues crossing the bridge. It has now reached the other side.

Chaku approaches the bridge, hands outstretched in a show of non-aggression. The large man peers across the bridge, attempting to discern if and what the figure may be doing. Shouting in dwarven he calls out Friend, mean no harm. He then waits patiently for the figure to respond.

The figure slows slightly once more, then continues along the road away from the group. The road bends not too far from the river. Just as the figure goes out of sight around the bend, it lets out a loud whistle.

Papolstaanas, thinking that this is yet more peculiar local behavior rather than anything sinister, gives Kaeysari a startled look and pulls out his sword and shield.
