OOC: Not this round- I have only a few tricks that might be useful, and I would rather save them as a last resort.
OOC: You can always try a skill check.

Ignatz didn't really exercise conscious control over the primal magic that seemed to accompany his adrenaline, and when the capricious fey had turned tail Ignatz had calmed down quickly. Now, however, it filled him again as he found himself in a thrilling race for his life. He tears through the foliage with superhuman speed, outstripping his pursuers and leaving a trail of destruction and laughter in his wake.

OOC:
Actions: Body of the Wolf, +1 speed

Athletics 23, +1 Buffer

Kane: Rolls 14 on Athletics check, falling from Buffer 3 to Buffer 2. However, he hits 4 of 9 front-line enemies with area burst 1 attack, granting everyone's next Athletics check with a +2 bonus.

Kama'zer: Rolls 1d20+11+2 (from Kane's bonus) -2 (speed penalty from armor), for a total roll of 28. Kamazer moves from Buffer 3 to Buffer 4. Not taking an action.

Vander: Rolls 1d20+3+2 (from Kane's bonus), for a total of 17, a success. He stays at Buffer 3. Uses Burning Brand, but rolls NAT 1, failing to start a brush fire.

Joy:Rolls 20 Athletics, staying at Buffer 3. Not taking an action.

Ignatz: Rolls 23 Athletics, moving to Buffer 4. Minor action: Body of the Wolf, granting him +1 speed.

Sound of Stone: Turn not yet taken.

@rb780nm poke

edit: rb's Sound of Stone has been largely absent the entire adventure; his input/influence is virtually non-existent: NPC?

OOC: I'm giving him 1 week to respond. If we don't hear from him by then, I am going to drop him from the adventure and likely pick someone up from those that came back from Knight in d'Argent Manor (after this chase scene naturally). Until then, if you would like to NPC Sound of Stone for us, jbear, that would be helpful.

OOC: Crickey - I have been pretty slack with this adventure. I can't even blame the forum outage, because I think my slackness predates that... If you don't mind ginving me a final chance, I'll try to pick up my game and stop slowing everyone down.

Sound of Stone glances back as Kane begins to fall behind the rest of the party. "No, he is not your prey!" the insectoid warrior hisses at the creatures chasing them as he slows down to keep pace with Kane. "Let me help you," he says, stretching out a clawed hand.

OOC: Sound of Stone is going to try to assist Kane - If I understand the rules correctly, that'll be at the beginning of next turn, but I'll roll it here to speed things up a little...

If I can use the movement part of Open the Gates of Battle here, then Sound of Stone's speed is 9 this turn, Kane's is 6 - average 7.5 (round up to 8?)

Athletics, with speed bonus. Helping Kane, no assistance result included. (1d20+14=27)

OOC: fractional portions are always rounded down, so that is an average speed of 7, giving each of you a +2 bonus to the Athletics check. That means that your total for the Athletics check is 25. With that result, even if Kane fails his Athletics check, the total result would be a success. As such, there is no need for Kane to roll his Athletics check on his next turn for the assist. On Kane's turn, both of you move up to Buffer 3.
@rb780nm : feel free to use a minor, move, or standard action to attempt influencing the chase (feel free to use skills or powers). @jbear : When you take Kane's turn, just take your minor/move/standard action to influence the chase.

As Kane was swept up by the multi-limbed thri-kreen and drag back up to the others, he took a moment to gaze back at their pursuers. He picked out the largest dwarf he could find and pointing his blade towards him he mutters: "Y-you shall not run fast!" But the distance is too great and Kane cannot manage to make eye contact. He curses silently and tosses out another freezing burst of arcane energy hoping to disturb their advance once more. Then he turns tail and keeps running, though it feels more like being dragged along the thri-kreen is so swift.

[sblock=Actions] For some reason my actions weren't posted:
minor: Evil Eye of the Vistani 12 vs Will = fail
standard: Freezing burst as before (will this work twice?)
Move: run to keep up (no roll necessary?) [/sblock]

Seeing Kane well upon his way again, Sound of Stone lopes along, keeping pace with the others of the party.

OOC: 1d20+12=29

Though far out of his element, as he runs, the hunter looks around for something that he might use to slow the pursuit.

OOC: Nature check (1d20+9=16) I was thinking some vines he could knock down as he passed that might impede pursuit, or a dead tree that would fall with a solid blow - but that roll means I've probably found nothing. But it's atleast good enough that he might not lead the party into a dead end ;)

Kane, being pulled along by the four-armed insectoid speed machine, tosses another ball of cold energies at the throng of fey creatures trailing behind them. As the icy sphere hurtles toward it's targets, Sound of Stone scans the area ahead of the group for anything that might help him to slow the pursuit of their enemies. Luckily for him, he did so at just the right time, as just ahead of the group, he spies a withering old tree, quickly drying out. It was snapped near the base of its trunk, and looked to be caused by its own weight, or a heavy wind, as the trunk is splintered, not cut. It is not completely severed, however, so a hard series of blows, or a hefty axe chop might be enough to set it free...and rolling back down toward your pursuers!

OOC: With this log in the way, the DC for the Athletics check is increased to 19 as everyone will need to climb over, slide under, etc to avoid it and keep it from slowing you down.
jbear: Move actions are automatically accounted for (as you're running away). Because of the strenuous nature of this chase, I'm only allowing one action on your turn (minor, move, or Standard). This is because you are essentially doing a double-move w/ run on your turn, and I'm giving you a free action to use while running away.

As such, you cannot use both the minor action Evil Eye of the Vistani power AND the Standard action Freezing Burst power. Please choose one to use. I will ignore the current failed roll for EEotV, as the action limitations were, apparently, not clear. Feel free to roll your 9 attack rolls for the freezing burst power, as you did before. Please do note, that while I don't mind you using this again, tertiary and further uses of that power against your enemies during the chase will start to be less effective as they will start guessing at your tactics and take actions accordingly.

rb780nm: That seems more like a perception check than a nature check, as you are trying to find something with your eyes, rather than trying to identify something you have already found. As such, your total for that roll is: 1d20+11=18. This is a success! Please see the description above for details of your perception check! Give yourself a +2 bonus to any attack rolls against the obstacle, as you found it's weak points with your perception check.
