[Adventure] He Chained Their Minds (DM: CrimsonFlameWielder; Judge Needed )

With the help of some special abilities, the adventurers easily outdistance their pursuers...especially considering the chaos that ensued behind them when the tree crashed into the front lines of the Unseelie, scattering hundreds of the tiny flying sprites in the process. You can hear the angry shouts and curses spat at you as you increase the distance between yourself and your enemies. Or at least you thought you had!

Having not really thought about it, you didn't realize that up to this point, your only pursuers had been the tiny flying sprites that had swarmed against you in your previous battle with the Time Collector. The group feels a rumble in the earth on the path ahead of them...

OOC: Congrats on making it through a full 2 rounds without anyone getting lower than Buffer 2 (and even that was only temporary!)...

Everyone: Before anyone rolls their Athletics check for next round, please roll a Perception check and show me the results.

[sblock=Unseilee Death Race: Round 1]

Kane: Rolls 14 on Athletics check, falling from Buffer 3 to Buffer 2. However, he hits 4 of 9 front-line enemies with area burst 1 attack, granting everyone's next Athletics check with a +2 bonus.

Kama'zer: Rolls 1d20+11+2 (from Kane's bonus) -2 (speed penalty from armor), for a total roll of 28. Kamazer moves from Buffer 3 to Buffer 4. Not taking an action.

Vander: Rolls 1d20+3+2 (from Kane's bonus), for a total of 17, a success. He stays at Buffer 3. Uses Burning Brand, but rolls NAT 1, failing to start a brush fire.

Joy:Rolls 20 Athletics, staying at Buffer 3. Not taking an action.

Ignatz: Rolls 23 Athletics, moving to Buffer 4. Minor action: Body of the Wolf, granting him +1 speed.

Sound of Stone: Moves down to Buffer 2, assisting Kane, and rolls 25 Athletics. Full success and will move with Kane to Buffer 3 at the start of Kane's next turn.

[sblock=Unseilee Death Race: Round 2]
Sound of Stone: Pulls himself and Kane up to Buffer 3; Finds a dying tree up ahead with a successful Perception Check (rolled total of 18).

Kane: Pulled up to Buffer 3 by Sound of Stone; Evil Eye of the Vistani misses.

Ignatz: Dashes ahead of the group of adventurers (athletics 28; moves to Buffer 5) and smashes a large tree's remaining attachments, sending it careening toward their pursuers. After everyone else has gone, the tree hits 8 of the first 12 of them, blocking their path until the congested group manages to climb and/or fly over. This will grant everyone in the group a +4 bonus to their round 3 athletics check!

Joy: Makes a running leap over the rolling tree (athletics 25) and pushes ahead to Buffer 4. Attempts to distract with a magical bluff check (rolled 16), but this fails.

Kama'zer: Leaps over tree, readying a use of Telekinetic Leap in case Vander should fail to make it over himself, and surges ahead to Buffer 5.

Vander: Just barely skims the top of the bouncing tree (Athletics 20), but Telekinetic Leap kicks in, and Vander surges over the tree and toward the others. He moves up to Buffer 4.

Up ahead of the group, all but Kama'zer miss the subtle movement of earth, just to the side of the path on both sides. Suddenly, a group of red cap dwarves spring up from the ground. They all stomp the earth at the same time, causing the ground to shake. A solid wall of rock and earth slowly begins to rise before you, and to the sides, threatening to trap you inside! Behind you, you can see and hear that the flying sprites have managed to extract themselves from the deadly log that reduced their numbers considerably, and are now angrily flying at top speed toward you.

OOC: All but Kama'zer take a -2 penalty to their athletics check, as you did not spot the dwarves in time to anticipate their actions. Coupled with Ignat'z log attack bonus, Kama'zer will have a +4 bonus to her athletics check, and everyone else will have a +2 bonus.

Kane almost stumbles and falls as the ground trembles, when he turns to see what has caused the commotion he runs face first into the rising wall of earth. With a grunt he dives for one of the open corners as the earthen trap still closes but is too slow. He gets caught and the walls began to press in on him tightly. Desperate, he gives a last effort and manages to tear himself free, though in the mean time the unseelie horde have gained ground on the arcanist.

Ignatz hurtles through the woods at tremendous speeds. He doesn't really have any idea where he's going, and he doesn't really care, but he's pulling well ahead of the rest of the group. He doesn't see the redcaps' trap before it's sprung- or after it's sprung, for that matter, as he's already past it before it's even started to rise above the brush. He does have enough presence of mind to tear one of the redcaps in half as he passes, more out of exuberance than anything else.

OOC:
Actions: Charge one of the redcaps!
Howling Strike HITS AC 26, hopefully carving a chunk out of one of them disrupts their efforts to trap us, and Ignatz gets a +2 speed bonus this round for charging.

Vander sees Kane stumbling and throws some dust in his ally's direction, then looks back ahead and continues to fly as hard as he can away from the faeries.[sblock="Actions"]Pixie Dust on Kane (If I can, ranged 5, not sure how large the buffers are) to let him fly 6 squares for a +12 bonus to his athletics check.
