Somac: Male Human Bbn3

Somac claps his friend Rillian on the back. "Perhaps it's best to just let them go and bide our time," he says gently. He then turns and heads to the Mayor's office. He tries to enter without making too much of a scene, then quietly listens.

Accepting Somac's advice, Rillian shrugs, smiles, and follows Somac. As they turn around he says quietly to Somac "You are probably right. But as my pop always says 'If you dont pull a weed right away, you'll come back to find it has eaten the garden.' "

Tandi listens as the mayor explains the town's problems. Having taken care of the orcs and the renders, she is curious to know, as is her companions, just what other threat could pose a problem. Besides the hobgoblins that had probably emptied the town's coffers.

"I would suppose that those hobgoblins did not handle all of Briarton's problems, and they left with any resources the town may have used to prevent another such attack. Am I correct sir mayor?"

*As Somac and Rillian reenter the Town Hall and then the mayor's office, Mayor Lucas answers the adventurers, speaking first to Cade, as Cade spoke first:*

"No, my halfling friend, I'm afraid that they did not. They didn't rescue our women or destroy the orc stronghold; they only eliminated the main warband and several raiding parties, plus their big friend. Then they made off with huge amounts of money and threatened our livelihood if we can't come up with more, so now the biggest threat is the hobgoblins themselves...Their leader has specifically threatened to burn the rest of the town and make off with the rest of our women..."

*To Anton:*

"I'm not sure just how many orcs there are in total, but the creatures seem to breed like pigs...I do know the hobgoblins destroyed a good number, but there are certainly more defending the orc stronghold."

*Then to Tandi:*

"Yes, I think you have assessed the situation admirably, my dear. You are wise as well as beautiful."

Cade translates the mayor's speach to Vrina in goblin.

"Sounds like you've beeen extorted then. This stronghold, where is it and how heavily defended is it?" Cade asks.

"Oh, it is most certainly extortion, but what can we do? My only thought is to just pray to Halina to shelter our small village from the monsters' wrath and hope that they will make do with what we have given."

"As for the orc stronghold, I have no idea where it is located or how heavily it is defended, though I expect that they won't be making any more attacks for quite some time after their losses...my main fear now is the hobgoblins."

Cade nods and sighs in quiet contemplation. The large halfling has many thing to think about.

Somac: Human Male Bbn3

Somac speaks up, "We can beat these hobgoblins. The fools put aside one of their women and she has joined our band. She has been betrayed by them, and her heart is trusting. I think she would lead us to where they lair. However, would it be right to then kill them if she did? Perhaps we can merely kill their leader to...persuade...them to leave the town alone."

"In any case, we would need mounts and provisions. Can the town spare them?"

Tandi looks at the ground when the mayor complements her. She wasn't used to such things, even when she was in court. It was considered taboo to think of anyone in that station to be anything less than beautiful. Shaking it off, she smiles and looks up.

"I agree with Somac. The hobgoblins we can handle. We can retrieve whatever they stole to return it to the mayor and then they can use it to get what they need to oust the orcs. We have another mission that we need to attend to, so if we are to do anything, we must move quickly."

This is Tandi's last post until I return from Colorado, Rystil please feel free to NPC until I return, just don't kill her please... Tandi will help return the gold and stuff from the hobgoblins to the village, but will then be insistent upon getting back to their main mission.

"I am hesitant to stray from our first mission... but I can see that this needs to be done." Anton scratches under his hat and then realigns it. "I think we may be able to follow the trail of the hobgoblins and the orcs, too."
