[Adventure] Lost Love (DM: Velmont - Judge: Renau1g)

Jarren rises to leave with the others, seeming rather thoughtful. Jasper's insistence on the impossibility of otherworldly influence on his estate certainly is foolish, but just because his conviction is misplaced and stubborn doesn't necessarily make it wrong in its substance - and Jarren is satisfied, now, that the man really has seen no sign of any such thing in his six months here. That proves nothing, of course, but it seems that the question of possible haunting remains entirely open, along with the other mysteries surrounding the door and its cryptic text.

The time has clearly come to investigate more thoroughly. Jarren waits patiently, though with certain misgivings, as the overly elaborate preparations of servants and guards and horses and provisions are set in motion.

Priam slowly finishes chewing his last bite, savoring the flavor. He then wipes his mouth and carefully folds the napkin before placing it on the table.

"All set here, sir. Let's be on our way."

The group gather in front of the manor. Jasper's two bodyguards and two workers are waiting for an horse for each one. They also have two pack horse with some stuff to prepare the camp.

"Let's go!" tells Jasper once everyone is on their horse. He leads to group behind the manor. The group see the garden of the manor, which seems invaded by native plant of the region. They are poorly maintained. "There is a limit of time and gold I can invest on that manor... and I haven't yet found a gardener that would work like I like. I hope to have all that finish in a couple of year, but I want first to have my cottage done. Most of the time I spend in this estate is for coming hunting."

The group ride for an hour in the valley. Part of the domain is cultivated. They are growing wheat and corn and hemp. "We are trying to grow hemp. This is a new culture. My family have already a few field of it in other estate to make rope. We are trading it to naval yard and to house Lyrander. But I must tell the house prefer silk rope for their airship as it is lighter, but the cost prohibits them to use only that."

After over an hour of ride, they enter a lightly wooded forest. "We should be there in twenty minutes." As the group ride, they forest grow thicker and they find themselves riding on a trail.

The trails end in a large natural glade. In the middle of it is a large hole. It is where the foundation of the cottage are made. "Here we are!" He looks at the sky. The sun is starting to lower in the sky and the largest tree start to make shade into the glade. "We have a lots of time in front of us. I'll still ask my workers to prepare the camp."

Unit 16 climb down his horse and walk over the hole. He see a large square hole. It is 5 feet deep. It is square, around 40 feet wide. That cottage would be probably large enough to welcome a whole family within his wall once it is built.

At first sight, he doesn't see any doors. Jasper, tells to the warforged while he climb down his horse. "The door is beneath you." Unit 16 look under his feet, he see an hole was dig deeper. "We were digging for my wine cellar. I wanted it deeper so the temperature stay the same all around the year. I wanted to be sure I could have some good wine to drink with the meet of the prey I would hunt."

The hole leads 5 feet deeper under the ground, under Unit 16 feet. There is a stone door in the dark hole.

Pis follows Susan to the edge of the hole. As Jasper points out the door he peers down and says, “Perhaps I should take a look at it first, neh? Just to be sure there are no... surprises.”

He looks to Jasper, “No one was harmed at any point handling the door?” Pis looks this way and that for the ladder or, more preferably, staircase down. If he sees neither he jumps down, not wanting to embarrass himself with a climb.

"No, the door is just there like a large stone. Nothing seems to either open or harm it." replies Jasper.

Two ladders on each side of the hole allow to climb down into the hole. Pis climb down using the ladder and walk to the passage way. A slope goes down five feet deeper. Crude stairs have been dig into the earth to help to climb down. At the bottom is the door described by Jasper. It is dark in here and not much light come up to there. Pis seems to be able to saw some scripture written on it but cannot figure exactly as the lack of light make it difficult to read. As he pass his hand on the door, he feels a small protuberance on the door. It is smooth and cold under his hand. As he takes a closer look at it, he saw a reflection of light coming from the protuberance, but the place is too dark for him to figure what it is.

Talkrai stood at the edge of the hole and looked down. It was too dark to see anything from here, apparently. Pity, she thought to herself, I'd like a look at it, but I'm sure it's best if we get this over with as quickly as possible.

"Maybe we ought to let Priam go down and have a look while the rest of us are out of the way. That way he can do that ritual without interference. It's probably the best way to start trying to sort this out."

Once the group arrives at the lodge site, Ryda dismounts and heads toward the far side of the foundation. Nocking an arrow, she keeps a keen eye toward the doorway hole, the surrounding forest, and the lord’s men. “Alright Priam, time to work your spells.”

[sblock=OOC]It makes me sad that Rogues aren’t actually any good at finding traps. I think I’ve got the worst perception here…[/sblock]

“I was planning on checking the door for traps. I can certainly hold off for now if it is preferred. Obviously there are none set to spring while the door is locked, else we’d have a dead worker on our hands, neh?”
