[Adventure] Murder Most Foul! (Judge: EvolutionKB)

[SBLOCK=OOC]WAIT A SECOND! I love Hasifar! He was made so he can come into melee. Close Blast encounter power, Sorcerous Channeling Blade... I suggest to bring him to the front line next round so I can start to Sneak. We have the same AC, he has similar defence than me, he even have more HP than me! I'm not a defender after all.

Please! :angel: [/SBLOCK]

Easy Velmont. Take a deep breath. There...much better.

I hereby request that Velmont take over roleplay of Hasifar. He clearly has a better understanding of how to play a sorcerer than myself.

Boruuk calls back "Thanks!" as he prepares to engage the ogre. He feels the stone underneath him, the memory of his mountain home flows back into Boruuk's mind. He steels himself and draws upon the strength of his home, his people as he steps forward to do honorable combat with a truly powerful foe.

Stepping forward, the goliath answers the ogre's blow with a massive one of his own, the greataxe driving deep into its shoulder. Boruuk feels the healing energy of the Silver Flame flow into him and nearly heal the terrible blow from the ogre.

[sblock=Artemus]
Artemus is at I13.

The Dragonborn is at K12.

It is 10 feet away. Artemus needs to move to melee attack him.

Where is Artemus moving to?

Tirial sees Boruuk's axe bite into the ogre and this emboldens her to step out of the cover of her current location. She focuses her attention on the ogre for now, ignoring the other enemies swarming their positions.

With lightning quick movements, the eladrin's bow sings in the air as a pair of arrows fly towards the large target.

Move: Shift to B13
Minor: Quarry the Ogre (assuming I have bow drawn, if not, then change to draw bow and damage below is 1 point less)
Standard: Two-Fanged Strike on Ogre - Two Fanged Strike (vs. ac, dmg, vs ac, dmg); Hunter's Quarry damage (1d20 11=26, 1d12 8=11, 1d20 11=23, 1d12 8=9, 1d6=1) Hits AC 26 for 12 (incl. HQ) and AC 23 for 9, if both hit then total damage is 24 (+3 extra damage from WIS bonus)

***KarinsDad - how do you want to handle immediate interrupts? Disruptive Strike is one and I'd like to prep it for use if the ogre attacks next turn (if its still standing) if you want to roll it's 1d20+11 (vs ac); 1d12+8 damage and ogre takes -6 on attack roll.

[sblock=Interrupts and Opportunity Attacks]
Interrupts do not work too well in PBP since the players cannot interrupt the DM while the DM is doing monster actions.

Earlier in an encounter when the foes are not too damaged, we will handle them by the player declaring them more or less ahead of time if possible. This is especially true of damaging only interrupts.

On the player's next turn, that player can then perform the interrupt and damage the foe. For damage only, this will make little difference.

For interrupts and opportunity attacks late in the encounter when foes are blooded or for interrupts that do not do damage (e.g. Shield spell), declare it as soon as possible, even if it is not your turn. I will retroactively make a few adjustments to the encounter map and such to handle the interrupt. Late in the encounter, I will also roll the to hit and damage for any opportunity attacks (and sometimes interrupts) from PCs while the NPCs are doing their actions to speed it up.

I'll only roll for the player during the monster's turn if I think it will change the results of the encounter in the short term, just to speed things up. But for the most part, it will be preferable and more fun (with soliloquies) for the players to make their own rolls. I'll try to keep DM rolling of PC's attacks and such to a minimum.

We'll try this out and make adjustments as necessary. I'll try to keep PC abilities in mind in the area of interrupts. If necessary, I will send a message to the player asking what the PC wants to do in some circumstances while I am calculating the actions of the monsters.

[SBLOCK=OOC]I move to J13[/SBLOCK]

[SBLOCK=Map]Your amp are not easy to read. The enemy token are not as clear as our. You should at least use the Grid option of Maptool, that would help. Or you could use virtual Battlemat. Look at my game: VM. I choose to make my map a bit big, but it is clear, and the token can be easily move around. A bit less practical when you have many identical token, as you don't have label like MapTool, but you could always create small token with numbers.[/SBLOCK]

I'm working on it V. I actually did add the grid to the map and somewhere along the line, it dropped and I didn't notice it.

The background I choose was also bad color scheme-wise, but I couldn't figure out how to change that without restarting from scratch.

I also haven't figured out how to put labels on the tokens so that they move with the token and are always visible, so I'll be working on that as well. The labels here are just text labels, as is the number/letter scheme.

Bear with me. This is my very first time using Maptools. I'm still a novice at it. If anyone is a bit of an expert with it, please please give me some tips via PM. I'm hoping to get better with it over the next few months so that I can introduce some more stunning displays.

Crawl before I walk, walk before I run, run before I jump.

I also haven't actually created any tokens yet, just using some from a library. I'll probably change the enemy tokens a bit so they are more visible in a couple of days.

In the meantime, if you click on the image and when it gets larger, double-click on it again, it opens it up in a separate window. Then, click on it in the separate window and it gets slightly larger still. This should help some.

Btw, if anyone has a token they want me to use for their PC, just send it to me or put a picture of it here.

[SBLOCK=OOC]No attack meant. I am just suggesting you options I am aware of. I am not very familair with maptool. I like much battlemat, except when it goes down, as when it does, it is for days :/ [/SBLOCK]
