[Adventure] The Lost Treasure of House Cannith (Judge: Evilbob)

Thalin pauses and refocuses himself, feeling bolstered by 354b's posturing and the whispered insight he obtained from Karananak and Kaelen. Of course we're sure of our protective skills. We are well aware of the Mist's reputation, and yet here we are seeking passage into it. We've heard you are the only one both bold and skillfull enough to have a chance of succeeding... but... if you are saying their tales of your skill are exaggerated, and you aren't the brave and fearless man we've heard about... Thalin leaves the sentence unfinished, gauging the good captains response.

Bartering Passage Round 2:

The wilden seems to be thoroughly amused by the unease his mere presence is having on the captain. He moves slowly and deliberately around the captain so the man can see the lack of reflection in Karananak's eyes as he looks out the window of the establishment. "An yuh coon task foe a betta day tuh be takin a lazin cruise across dis ere wata. Dee weda goan be calm an genta fa de necks serva days don cha know. Yuh not be findin a simpla pay day on dees ere docks dis day trute."

[/sblock][sblock=OOC]Thanks for adding another skill to the challenge that I have some chance of winning. I think perception might work with the info about the fog not effecting conditions on the river as well.[sblock=Translation]And you couldn't ask for a better day to take a lazy cruise across this here river. The weather is going to be calm and gentle for the next several days at least don't you know. You won't find a simpler pay day on these dock today truly.[/sblock][/sblock]

[sblock=ooc]You're welcome. I'm a fan of cascading challenges. Information gained or things that happen based on RP can unlock new options. Unfortunately, I don't think Perception for information about the Mist is appropriate, since you can't see that far across the river from here. It actually forms something of a pool near the city, so it isn't just a small little thing. It looks a bit more like a small lake the river flows into and you're somewhere near the mouth.

Of course, that doesn't mean Perception would never be useful for anything. Keep in mind that if you can think of a skill not listed to use and have good RP and reasoning behind it, it could be useful as a secondary skill. Feel free to run it by me first in ooc block if you'd like. I'm all for rewarding good RP. :D[/sblock]

[sblock=Skill Bonus]The next person to use the weather knowledge just relayed by Karananak in your speech or actions gains a +2 bonus to Diplomacy or Intimidate.[/sblock]

354b continues to try to be helpful while letting better talkers have their way.

Sorry I was thinking Karananak was the captain, lol, i'm not always the best with names.

Colrgrave's brow furrows to a slight frown as he turns to his companions. "In truth, my friends, I am somewhat concerned. The tales we heard of Captain Shrouder made it sound as if he was a seasoned veteran at making trips such as these, and safe hands with which to entrust our lives. But now, to find him so hesitant at a brief trip into the Mist... Captain, forgive my rudeness, but you understand we must be sure about these things, for the sake of our hides as well as our purses. You are experienced with this type of thing, yes?"

There is a fatal hesitancy in his speech as he realises that the delivery wasn't quite perfect, and the captain's expression seems to be heading towards affrontery rather than the anxious reassurance that Colgrave had hoped for. With an inward wince, he hopes that Thalin can smooth over any incoming tantrums.

[sblock=ooc]Turtle, can I ask that your character please do something besides stand there to be helpful. I'm sure he can toss in a word that would be useful, an opinion maybe, or even just agreeing vocally with what someone else has said? Maybe you tried to move in some sort of way 354b would think is reassuring (even if others wouldn't). The first round I didn't mention anything about you aiding by trying not to look frightening because in the opening of a negotiation that can certainly be important. However, now that things are open and you have his attention, you won't really be aiding by staying silent and not moving because he won't be paying any attention to you at all.

You don't have to change your roll or anything. I'm not asking that. Just asking that you please try to put in a little RP besides standing still and quiet.[/sblock]

254b isn't really any good at social situations, lol, he dosen't understand how people interact. perhaps I should play that up then I'll try to figure something out.
[/sblock]
"Mission status Good" says 354b with aparently no prompting.

[sblock=ooc]Yea, I understand that, and that's cool. Not everyone can be a socialite, and it would be boring if they all were. Playing up his lack of understanding of the situation is perfect. :D[/sblock]

The fact that the supposedly intrepid captain was paying them so little atention was getting into Kaelan's nerves, and his body language was betraying his calm face.

He knew there was little he could do besides cutting the man open to get what he wanted, as the subtle art of intimidation was just always outside of his grasp. As much as he tried, it seemed like his knowledge on just how much pain he was willing to inflict to get what he wanted could never be transmited by words or body language, as the last time he had tried to intimidate someone he'd had to actually demonstrate that he had no qualms on killing the man to get the information.

Just how did all those people do it? He had seen others scaring the lights out of merchants without as much as moving a finger. Still, if things came to it, he wouldn't hesitate to inflict some wounds in order to get a reaction of the captain.

He would just have to careful enough not to wound him too much...

Intimidate, Aid Another (1d20+1=10)

[sblock=OOC]Well, Kaelan can't talk his way out of a kindergarten room, so don't expect him to be of much help in here.
It's meant to be that way.
The elf comes out as just awkward, even if I haven't found yet a way to describe him just right. At least this time I made the roll, so no problem there =) [/sblock]

OOC @ hornedturtle - A few ideas to get the old gears turning.

your playing a psion with a +10 Intimidate, so its time to start intimidating. Describe how your metal character interacts with his environment if your having trouble thinking of something say. Spout something arcane or historical when you "aid another" but describe it in detail, because knowledge can intimidate just as well as a pointy sword or a dazzling smile. Your playing a smarty pants, psychic caster type not a stoic walking weapons wrack of a fighter bud ;).
