[Adventure] The Mine-Militia Identity. (DM: horticulture; Judge: covaithe)

OOC:
[MENTION=6671055]horticulture[/MENTION]; AFAIK you don't gain benefits from cover against adjacent enemies. Prime can just choose the lower left corner of his square to draw his lines from and none of them are obstructed. Same goes for Duergar.

GM: That's true, twilsemail, so no cover for either.

OOC: That was what I though at first too, but he was flanked when Prime attacked and thus he had had the full +10 bonus to attack.

In any case waiting for the others to act before deciding my actions.

Can the wounded dwarf cut the rope on her own?

GM: Also, challenge is an interrupt, therefore even if he ended up in total darkness, the challenge attack wouldn't be affected.
GM:
GM:

Also true on both accounts. So, everything I've said about Prime and the duergar's attacks has been rescinded. The duergar is in J5, Prime's Combat Challenge connected, and neither character has cover.

I think I might just stop posting from work, as I'm constantly distracted and miss obvious stuff.

As for the dwarf being able to cut the rope, I'll say you need to spend a minor action to give her the command, and she'll do it at the end of the player's turn.

Gliding again in his deceptively easy low guard, Drew regains the advantage against the dwarf, but it does him little good. He misses his bejeweled dagger, obviously, hammering on metal armor with bare hands, even toughened as his are, seems pointless.

[sblock=Actions]
Minor: Fallen Needle shift K5
Move: Shift K4
Standard: Fallen needle vs Ref - MISS - on the positive side, I doubled my roll from 2 to 4 :)

Mina continued to sing, still trying to bewitch the nearest dwarf. She raised her voice a bit, the silvery notes gaining a shrill edge- and this time the magic took hold. With a crazed smile, the dwarf trotted over to the edge of the pit and jumped in- landing directly on top of the other duergar, who had just begun to climb up the rope.

[sblock= OOC]
>Standard: Hypnotism vs. duergar at G7; 1d20+5 vs. Will= 22 (hit, slide up to 5 squares to J8, into pit on top of other dwarf); roll Roll Lookup
>Duergar save to avoid falling 1d20 = 1 (fail, fall into pit on top of other dwarf- should at least be an athletics penalty to hold onto rope/swim); roll Roll Lookup

[/sblock]

Finally, and with a great deal of effort, Prime manages to slip his sword between the dwarf's armor plates and twost the blade for some measure of extra pain. As his quarry winces in pain, he turns to the female dwarf and points at the rope, whistling steam as he urges the woman to cut it.

[sblock=actions]
Minor: Direct the dwarf to cut the rope.
Move and Standard: Since the dwergar at J5 had this round the ability to "react to enemy movement" and Drew shifted plenty of times in his turn, I'm not sure he's at J5 any more. If he is, or otherwise in a position where it's impossible to push him with Tide of Iron towards the pit, I'll shift so I have the dwarf in melee range if neccesary (move) then use Shield Feint as the ??? attack.

If it's possible to push the dwraf towards the pit with Tide of Iron and I can do it without drawing an attack of opportunity, I'll move into position and ??? will be Tide of Iron.

In any case the attack should hit for 12 damage and the dwarf is Marked[/sblock]

Hey you, drop him in the drink! Sharpe shouts at the dwarf captive, pointing towards the rope.

OOC: Sharpe will spend a minor to tell the dwarf to cut the rope if nobody has done so already.

OOC: [MENTION=6671055]horticulture[/MENTION]; If the dwarf isn't able to cut the rope, for whatever reason, I'll head over and do that. If she is, I'll post a full turn. Lemme know which it is. Holding my action until then.

GM: Since Sharpe spent the minor action to tell the dwarf to do that, she'll crawl over there and cut it. She'll do it at the end of the player's turn and before the monster's turn.

And, the dwarf, seeing Drew attempt to flank him with Prime, would shift back to J6 on Drew's second shift. It doesn't affect MetaVoid's actions much since he missed but it does affect what Someone would have done. I assume it would be Tide of Iron to slide him closer to the pit but I'll wait for a confirmation from Someone.

OOC: Yes, that's right, Tide of Iron to push the dwarf to K7; Prime shifts to J6 (as the power allows) then another square south as a move action

Felix throws his sword into a patch of loose gravel and the hilt remains in the air, waiting to be retrieved. Hastily he loads a bolt into his trusted crossbow and fires at the remaining Duergar. As the bolt strikes home he moves towards the pit, picking up his sword along the way. Looking down he yells, "How about you boys just stay down there for just a bit longer, eh?" His timing is impecable as the dwarf woman cuts the rope and the party hears it hit the water with a splash.

The injured and tortured dwarf, hearing Prime's urgent whistling and gesturing toward the rope, crawls over and, with Drew's dagger clutched in her acid burned hand, cuts the rope, leaving her previous captive trapped in their own torture device.

Hearing Mina's outstanding argument, the duergar trundles over and hops into the pit, crashing atop the other clinging to the side. The guard in the pit lets out a bark of surprise before disappearing below the surface of the water for a moment.

The remaining dark dwarf, panic glossing over his eyes, makes a break for it. Prime is too quick for him, stopping him his tracks. Wincing in pain, and bleeding from many wounds, the duergar continues his escape towards the other room. Felix, fleet of hand, clubs the dwarf on the back of the head as he passes, dropping the sadistic dwarf to the ground with a grunt and crash of metal.
GM: We'll call the combat here, as the dwarves in the pit have no real recourse to getting out, though they are both still alive.
