[Adventure] The Mine-Militia Identity. (DM: horticulture; Judge: covaithe)

Fine, let's do it this way. Sharpe says, walking over to the pit. Mina and Flix will have that one, he says pointing to a Duergar, Mr. Monk will have that one, he says pointing to the other one, and me and the dragon will get this one Sharpe says, taking the the Duergar not in the pit and dragging him over to the dragon.

Now lets see if he has any magic items on him, would you do the honors? Sharpe asks. Looking happy, Malifixindalaunt picks up the Duergar by the foot and starts to shake him upside down, seeing if any loot comes falling out.

OOC: Speaking of that, I still need to make my wishlist. ;)

The unconscious dark dwarf dangles from Malifixindalaunt's mouth like a ragged marionette but nothing falls out from his pockets. It appears these duergar were not as well-to-do as the previous inhabitants. The dragon drops the dwarf with a huff.

The two dwarves in the pit grab hold of the rope, but watch the heroes from the bottom, not willing to climb up just yet.

The once capture dwarven miner coughs a couple more times, spits out some water, and shakily gets to her feet. "My name is Herquen," she says. "I was captured by these scum--" she kicks the unconscious dark dwarf in the ribs "--while trying to set up barricades and traps to slow them down. They immediately thought to torture me for information. They seem," she coughs again. "They seem to very interested in the streams and pools of water down here for some reason."

She looks over the group with a wary eye. "Who're you lot and why are you here? We have all the required paperwork to be digging in these parts; we got them from the Lord-Mayor himself."

GM: Sorry about the delay, folks. This weekend was very chaotic.

Prime looks down to the dwarves grasping at the rope.

Felix is about to point out the irony of the Duargar's predicament after hearing the Herquen's statement, when he catches sight of Prime's chest. He instead waits for her to finish quietly. "Whatever trouble brews up between you and Daunton, is between you and daunton. We're here to make sure this lot," he gestures to the pit, "don't do any more harm than they already have. Speaking of... shouldn't we mop up the rest?"

Eying Drew's condition, he unloads Layla and straps her to his back. Afterwards he begins stretching his sword arm.

OOC: Felix will be in Battle Wrath stance from here on out. He'll also be focusing on Melee.

horticulture; any chance we're levelling this rest? I've got a PC waiting in the wings. How does leveling even work mid-adventure. I don't use XP at home so I'm not entirely sure. Does it even happen?

As he stretches a loud pop can be heard and he winces, hissing through clenched teeth. He says to no one in particular, "Rib? Still broken. In case you were wondering."

GM: As far as I know, characters can level up during adventures. If I'm wrong, I'm sure I'll be corrected.

Everyone has reached level 2, even without time experience. We'll take a day or two for everyone to level their character up; when you're finished, reply with an updated stat block and we'll get back under way.

I'll post the exact amount of experience gained in an hour or two.

I have no idea why I am here, I think it is for the gold or something. Sharpe says seriously to the dwarf.

I think we deserve a reward for saving you by the way... he says, looking meaningfully at the dwarf.

Yes, you can level up in an adventure, at the discretion of the DM. Which basically means the DM can hold off on awarding XP until a suitable time (e.g. an extended rest or a specific plot point), if they see fit. Note that you don't have to re-submit your character for approval when you level up inside of an adventure, only after the adventure is over (if you have leveled up). I think that's how it works, anyway; the charter is out of date on that subject.

OOC: horticulture if you don't mind me asking, should Sharpe take the mounted combat feat? Or would it be better if he either swap a feat out at level 3 or take it at level 4?

I am unsure if Sharpe will probably gain another level this adventure, or if the dragon is going to join him at the end of the adventure :)

[sblock=levelling notes]I retrained Passing attack for Hack and Hew for more reliable marking; also took Shield Push as the 2nd level feat. If Prime hits with his Combat challenge attack (NOT Combat Superiority) and is wielding a heavy shield, he can push the marked enemy 1 square. Since Combat Challenge is an Immediate Interrupt and goes before the triggering action, I can potentially push foes beyond their melee range and completely foil their attack; this will be Prime's priority if he has the chance to use his Combat Challenge push.

Also I supposed there's no problem on discarding the sword and picking up one of the dwarves' warhammers.

GM: In all honesty, I was planning on having the dragon disappear for a level or two, and then writing up an adventure (maybe a small vignette just for Sharpe) to reintroduce the dragon as his permanent mount.

So! I'd say save the Mounted Combat feat for fourth level.

The total experience (not including time XP) is 1030 a piece. I'll save the time XP for the end of the adventure, as you didn't need it to level after the encounter.

And, thanks to covaithe for the judgely comment.

Once everyone checks in with updated characters, will continue.
