So, Spider and friends of Spider, where is it we are heading?"
He shrugs off the heavily laden pack, bursting at the seams.
"Well where ever it is we are going I need to unburden myself or this pack will drive me into an early grave. Besides, man can not eat treasure. In exchange for your camaraderie and more importantly your food and an offering of mutual protection I offer each of you a trinket freshly acquired, with the condition that you accept any retribution it might call down upon you from the necromancer I .... in whose grounds I found them within."
The Cursed One pauses to think how to make his bargain slightly better for himself.
"Aaaand ... on the condition you offer me protection if said necromancer should come looking to recover said objects while I remian in your compnay. Aaaand you forgive me beforehand hand for any untoward ill fortune the party should suffer due to my presence amongst you."
With these last words a stone skims through the air from the bank of the river and hits the back of the Cursed One's head with a dull thud. He grits his teeth in a grin fighting his mouthing from speaking the words his tongue is barely holding back. When the second larger stone hits him he is unable to control himself and snaps to the air:
"You will stop that now or I swear by the Sun I will do what we talked about yesterday!!"
He turns back to the group rubbing his skull, his face flushed with embarrassment.
"Sorry about that. A slight problem with mischievous spirits but nothing too grave. Where was I? Ah, yes. So ... if you accept my words, call me friend and bind our words with the locking of hands."
As he tugs open the strings of his backpack he can't help but admire the stash of loot he has managed to acquire. Marvelling he utters:
"Ho ... ho ... ho..."
To the Spider he gives a helm, saying:
"I only have one head and a helm of my own."
To Phardoeys he gives a staff saying:
"How did I even get that in there?"
To Tyris he gives a cloak and Zardi, a pair of armbands.
"Again I have gauntlets and a cloak of my own."
To Sound of Stone as he offers some footwear he looks down at his own battered boots for a moment, one of his toes sticking out through a small hole at the front.
"Ah, not my size ... I already tried them. A spirit cursed shame for me but your own good fortune."
The gift giving complete he takes out a second helm from the bottom of the pack his eyes shining bright with pleasure as he looks upon it.
"In any case, this is what I came here for." As he slides it onto his head the metal seems to ripple like liquid as it forms around his head and neck perfectly, covering the the upper part of his face but leaving his mouth free. Seven gems mark the helm, three arc above each eye and one just like a tiny spike from the centre of his forehead. His face is warped with extasy as he mumbles to himself:
"It was all worth it!"
