"Among the ants?" says Ekris. "I don't remember seeing any goblins, but I don't recall everything clearly."

"We've seen the goblins here, though," Ismene says, smiling grimly. "These guys fought a bunch yesterday. Managed to capture one. He says he's down here with about fifty others, under someone named Zareska. Is that the warlord you're talking about?"

"No," Ekris replies. "The one I overheard is a big bully of a bugbear named Gorzo--and I believe he has many more than fifty in his army."

Ismene groans.
"Wow, things just pile up, don't they?" she says. "Well, there's plenty for everyone to do. We've got an infestation of ants that are now taking captives, we've got the goblins that are here, and the ones that are coming, we've got delegates headed this way from the villages that probably wouldn't say no to an escort, I still haven't heard from Sudney, and I'm not even sure if the delegates will like what I have to say. I can use help on all of them. Go ahead and take your pick, guys."

Boris shifts from foot to foot, his face tingling with excitement as it dawns on him exactly the type of people he has fallen in with and what it is they do with their time. He closes his eyes as his soul floods with joy.

"Bless you Pelor. We have much work to do!"

Pharodeys pops the insects one by one into her mouth and munches with sober concentration.

[sblock=Telepathy to everyone including NPCs (so as not to talk with mouth full)]"The Hzakans may have great numbers. Perhaps we should try to join with Zareska's band against them. But the towns should also be informed of these developments."[/sblock]
[sblock=Telepathy to Zardi]"The termites are very good. Thank you."[/sblock]

He turned away, calmed down, then added: "No. Ya tell da prisona a dis odda won, dis Gorzo, an ya let him go back ta his Ooman masta. Den while dem 'oblins fight amongst dem selves, I an I have da time to take care a des ants."

Boris shifts uncomfortably, not feeling that it is his place to offer an opinion or a preference. But he does not hesitate to offer a question.

"Which situation is of the greatest urgency? Which one puts the greatest amount of lives in danger if we do not end the threat quickly? Perhaps the answer can guide our steps."

"Well, that's kind of tough," Ismene says, "Everything's urgent, and getting worse. In the last two days we've gone from having a possibility of Hzakan raids to one group of goblins here, and another on the way. The ant's are getting bolder, it looks like, and we've got the delegates coming in to the conference... I guess that's what's most important. If this conference goes off well, then we've got more to work with."

"I'm not sure exactly when they're coming, but if you go down to the bridge--Capadecol bridge where the ants were--you might meet up with the delegates from Brugwal and Doorna there. Brugwal's group is being led by someone named Norris, and I don't know who's coming from Doorna. Just a message saying that someone was. Will that work for you?"

Boris' eyes flick from left to right at his new companions his mouth opens in response but then it snaps shut as he fears all of his queries might be over stepping his mark. A stone cracks into the back of his head causing him to exclaim in pain quite loudly.

He blushes as he discovers Ismene still staring at him.

"Err ... ehem ... So the ants ... they could endanger the delegates who are about to arrive, is that right? So eliminating the threat would have us in the right place to meet the delegates, ensure their safety and remove a threat for the locals? Sounds like a few birds with a single stone."

As he says stone he ducks, anticipating the second stone that comes flying from outside. It hits Spider in the back of the head instead. Boris looks sheepishly and mouths a silent apology.
