(Adventure) Trek to the Vinyard...

Tall Man
"Hail, Good Folk. Need ye water, there be a well across the Road, and there's tea and apples inside, courtesy of his graciousness the Mayor of the City, who keeps this place."

Troi stops his horse, and gives his traditional greeting. "Hail, well-met, and all that other fun stuff." He says. "We're actually lookin' for somebody by the name a Enbard Gunnerson. Do ya happen ta know where he is?"

The man looks up at Troi again and says 'And what would ye be wantin' Gunnerson fer, might I ask?'
Several of the others in the yard have also stopped, wary, though not hostile of folk asking about one of their own.

Tall Man
"And what would ye be wantin' Gunnerson fer, might I ask?"

"Erm..." Troi ponders for a moment. "We just need ta speak with 'im, y'know? We're workin' for Fenton, y'know, one a the partners a that vinyard a ways down the road here? We gotta find some things out for 'em, and Gunnerson might know what we need to know."

The man relaxes, as do the others in the yard. Smiling, he says "Ah, this about thatwagon he found a few days back? The one with the 'ominous' feel. He went on about spooks and such all night after he got back from shift. Her, I'll call him out. *Gunner!* More folks wantin ta hear yer daft story!' After another minute of so, a young man walks outof the building, apple in hand. This one looks younger than the other, perhaps 25, with a few days growth of stubble and brown hair cropped short to his head. The Wood-chopper thumbs at your group and the man steps up, placing one boot on the porch-railing and says 'What do ye wanna hear, good folk? Bout the Wagon I reckon, like the others...'

Troi nods. "Yep, that's the guy."

"*Gunner!* More folks wantin ta hear yer daft story!"

Troi winces as the tall man yells. "Man," He says, under his breath, "couldn't he just've gone and gotten 'im?"

While waiting for Gunnerson to arrive, Troi takes a good, long look at the sky, trying to figure out what sort of weather awaits them on their journey.

Attempting to use Survival (+5) to determine the weather conditions for the next 24 hours.

Gunnerson
"What do ye wanna hear, good folk? Bout the Wagon I reckon, like the others..."

Troi gives his traditional greeting. "Yep, that'd be what we wanna hear. 'fore we do that, though, allow me to introduce myself... my name is Troi Delmontes. These are my friends," He indicates each with a gesture as he names them, "Thurgan, Zoe, Felix, Rinaldo, and Velbrik."

He smiles. "There. Since we know who you are, Enbard Gunnerson, there's no need for ya to introduce yourself... so go on ahead and tell us your story."

< Survival result 5+roll 19=24>

Troi figures that there will be fairly clear skies, perhaps with some light rain tomorrow, the way that things look as of now.

Gunnerson smiles at Troi's familiarity, looking from one face to the next. Satisfied that you folks aren't trouble of any sort, the Roadwarden waves you inside, retreating out of the humid morning's Sun.

Once inside, you see that there is a Commons room able to seat perhaps 20 folks in a pinch. Most likely, this is for travellers caught away from the City in bad weather or perhaps for meetings for the local farmers or craftsmen. Gunnerson brings a pitcher of water to the table, gesturing towards the many cups that sit upside-down upon it, all the while watching you all, one face to the next.
When Gunnarson is satisfied that you are comfortable, he begins 'Well, here it is, then. A couple of nights back, I was on patrol, along with Frederic, he's one of the men out in the yard, shoeing horses. Anyways, Fred and I comes across a Wagon, one that we recognized, seeing as it passed two and from the Vinyard South of here every other day or so,it or one just like it, anyhow. The Wagon was off on the side of the road, with not a sign of either the driver or his mate, as they always travel in twos from when we'd see them. Neither was there any sign of the horses. The entire area was covered in blood, as if some beast or a great number of them was fighting over the bodies and had torn them apart, carrying them off.All of the barrels were smashed as well. We dismounted to investigate, crossbows at the ready, and found many prints of boots, heavy like a man and sized the same. As well, we found prints of some animal, wolf-like or perhaps dogs of some sort. And as well, I found this... Gunnerson reaches into his belt pouch, pulling forth a thong of leather, upon which is a fetish of some sort. A long canine tooth and several red and blue beads strung on either side.
Gunnerson passes it around the table for you to examine. As you each get a better look at the thing, the man continues, though the timbre of his voice suggests that he is forcing this a bit, as if he was nervous or unsure of it (or of the reactrion that it might cause in you) 'As we were remounting, off inthe distance, on a hill, I saw someone watching us. Perhaps a quarter of a mile, though there was a very bright moon that night. I couldn't see him or her clearly, but i did see what happened next. The person changed...turned into an animal on four legs and loped off over that hill. That's all I have to tell you, though you are free to ask me any more questions, if'n you like. I have an hour yet before I go on patrol. I, uh...don't really want to patrol at night anymore, so the Sgt has allowed me day Warding for a bit.'

I'm going to try to use bardic knowledge (+3) to see if I recognize the emblem/fetish/symbol/thing.

"This does sound like a sticky situation. A werebeast, perhaps a werewolf, of some sort? I'm afraid this is not my area of study," says Velbrik. "I know that silver would be handy, and-belldonna, perhaps? Troi, this is your sphere of expertise, is it not?"

Velbrik gets an odd gleam in his eye, as if he suspects something.

I want to use Sense Motive (+5) to try and get a hunch or what his mood seems like or basically anything relevant about the second part of his story, when he started speaking strangely.

"Roadwarden, do you have specific patrols you need to follow? Would it be possible for you to accompany us during our search?"

<Bardic Know>Velbrik can ascertain nothing from the fetish. It doesn't look like any famous ones/symbols that he has heard of in tales or studies.

<Sense Motive >The Roadwarden seems to be agitated and a bit scared of the whole affair. It is fairly obvious to Velbrik that he speaks truthfully, at least as he percieves the truth.

The Roadwarden pales a bit at being asked upon the adventure 'As I said, Good Sir, I work dayshifts now. I will not go looking for whatever did the things I saw. So much blood...'
Gunnerson seems fairly adamant about staying put in his duties.

OoC:I'm off to sleep, folks. Back on in 6-8 hours.

"You said Fred was with you?" Looking at the others. "I'll go see him. Maybe he can provide us with a bit more information." And so Rinaldo walk out of the place to search the man named Frederic.

During all the interaction with Frederic, I try analyse his feeling. Sense Motive +6.

If the smith is still working on the halflings ponies:

As I approach the smith, Rinaldo ask:Hi, Blacksmith. Are you mister Frederic, the one who was on patrol with Gunnarson?
