I may drop a Hypnotic Pattern at N9, could you slide Bow 1 to L7 instead of M6, as that will help Pok to target him greatly? Also can you slide Bug 3 to O8, as that would free up N9.

I'm posting now, so I'll put in a contingency if you have a plan for M6.

I'm not a big fan of changing my actions after the fact based on other people's input. It feels like metagaming tactics out of combat. I'm totally cool with in character suggestions like the one Val ignored.

I put the foes where I did so that Hob Bow 1 would be out of Pok's LOS (i.e. the hob would not see any spells from Pok and might need to roll Perception to come back and attack Pok) and that all 3 could be hit with a Burst 2 from M8. There is no way to set up all three with for a Burst 1, so I was content setting up a Burst 1 (or two) for you at L7.

Well, it is meta-gaming. If I were sitting at a table with you, instead of playing on a forum, I would ask the same thing. In much the same manner, as an aside, while you decided on your action.

Your reasons for sliding them where you did were sound. I had just hoped for a different setup, or the original setup, for targeting reasons.

The alternate actions weren't for show, if you don't want to change the slides Ren can go with the Alt.

I'll edit the post to reflect.

Like I said, not a big fan of that. We had a discussion on that in the rules forum just this week. At our table, we have an occasional "Why don't you flank him?", but we don't get into detailed dissections of the best ways to get great advantages out of the situation.

Besides, I'm not quite sure why you wanted me to change anyway. You can still do your exact same original set of actions (Horrid Whispers and Hypnotic Pattern) and still catch the same set of foes, just pulling them to one square different. Why do you need me to change actions???

Without the change Pok has no Line of Sight to one of the targets.

I don't need you to change actions.

The alternate is fine.

Moving forward.

You don't need line of sight to the target.

You need line of sight to the origin square for both of those powers.

The burst effects still affect targets, even if they are out of your line of sight. They are not out of line of effect for the burst. PHB page 280.

You can still do your original set of actions with no penalties, affecting the exact same targets.

KD you couldn't have made me happier!

Thanks for opening my eyes to the most important bit of rules info that I have missed for bursts... WOW!

No need for alternate action with that information... Who knew?! KD, that's who.

You've prompted me to reread pg 271 as well...

For the sake of avoiding confusion for Ren, go with the alternate... and if Pok is hit, he will use his Fade Away racial power to become invis.

River task cover from the archers and get a better line of sight on Valahad opponents. The magic of his battle standard allow River to plant it in the floor of the house, making a small hole. "Sorry for your floor." He prays Arawai and Shava feels the pain being wash away. "Keep the bugbear occupied, Pok will handle the archers and I'll make sure you don't fall." tells River to the drow.

Lanharath narrows his eyes at the bugbear before him and dares him to come forward, forcing it to move towards him with divine will. As it nears Lanharath, it's fur begins to singe in the golden aura that surrounds Lanharath.

"Agent of Khyber... know that you face two of the most devout followers of Il-Yannah. We faced your brethren three days ago and won. Their numbers were superior to yours. What makes you think you can possibly face US and live!?

Valahad. Teach this moronic whelp what happens when it faces the wrath of The Great Light!"

"Thanks River." Sheeva smiles.

"Fast little bunny rabbits, aren't they?" the drow quips as the blasts the bugbear away from her, the backlash catching the archer in the doorway.

Valahad ignores the cry of the drow for now. The paladin sends a mental message to Lanharath, "Let's cut these down quickly, the others need help. Let's try and draw them inside so Pok can do his thing." The kalashtar draws his blade, and slashes at the bugbear in one motion. He finds his mark in it's hairy hide. The light of il-Yannah that it feels is only the beginning of it's pain. "You cannot fight us, with your deaths, the Age is closer to turning."

Pok pulls his wand from his robes, he prepares himself against the immediate danger of the Bugbear. The gnome then causes the fire to dance alluringly, all of the enemies are drawn to it. He tries to flip the table, but has little success, it's just too heavy for him.

[sblock=Val]
You see a flaming bolt slam into the hobgoblin wielding the wand, but you don't see its source. He looks around confused and angry.

[sblock=Lan]
For a moment you spot a Drow in the bushes to the southeast of the building, he fires a crossbow and then shadows envelop him, even your unearthly perceptive skills cannot pinpoint him
[/sblock]

The bugbear that Sheeva hit with the lightning blast comes back around the corner, his anger palatable as his eyes are red with anger as he brings his morningstar to bear against the drow. The weapon slams into Sheeva, knocking the wind out of her slightly.

The hobgoblins turn their attention to the now visible gnome, "Get him brother, he is dangerous" the left one says to the right. They train their bows on Pok, the first manages to catch him despite the cover provided by the table for a minor wound, the other however sticks his arrow in the wall above the table.

The hobgoblin outside levels his wand at Valahad and lasso of force appears around the paladin tightening around his neck and dragging him out the front door.

Seeing an easy target outside, one of the bugbears runs outside, taking the long way around Valahad and stepping in front of the hobgoblin, waiting for his ally.

The bugbear in front of Lan looks at the Kalashter, but holds his weapon "Don't worry, I'll be back" he threatens as he steps away, surrounding Valahad, and the duo swing their weapons, but they underestimated the strength of the paladin and their blows ring loudly off the armour.

River shift away from the bugbear and shot his divine light at on of the ones who are on Valahad back.

[SBLOCK=OOC]Move: Shift at N11
Standard: Astral Seal on Bug1: 1d20+10=23. If it hit (it should I think) -2 penalty to all defense until the end of my next turn. The next person to hit him gain 12 hp. Go Valahad!

Suggestion: Lan could do as the bugbear, prepare himself but act only once Valahad act.[/SBLOCK]

Valahad chokes and struggles as the wizards spell pulls him outside. The bugbears attacks are of little importance as he deflects one with his shield and another clangs off his armor. Not needing his voice to speak, he communicates with the bugbear. "I've had enough of you. The darkness of Khyber flows within your hearts. It will be your undoing. Hope conquers hate." The kalashtar slashes heavily with his blade, the metal not as strong as his faith.

[sblock=Actions]
Minor: Oath of enmity BB1
Move(to minor)Ardent Strike on next attack
Standard: Righteous Smite on BB1. Crap. righteous smite vs AC bb1 (1d20+10=15, 1d20+10=12, 2d8+16=23) I'd be lucky to hit even with the reduced defenses from River's attack.[/sblock]

[sblock=Lanharath]This would be a good time to use your ability to give me a reroll. Especially since I get to reroll both.[/sblock]
