IC: The large cat growls "Stupid city folk, have they never seen a talking cat before?" He moves toward the black wall of force and smacks a chair into it seeing what it will do..

OOC: rrrarrrarrroarr!!!! How do you do wild shape? Do i get to pick any form that i want or do i have specific forms?? How tall is this building? Do we have other ways to go out and around?

Wild Shape: If you know what it is, you can wild shape into it.

The building is four stories high. There are other ways out, but it will take several minutes to get out and to the back. You doubt that you can catch up with them.

"Not to be demanding, but I can't reach some of this bleeding. Could I *cough* get someone to help me to my feet. I am not feeling very well"

OOC 8HP right?

GE

IC: Seeing as how he is left with no alternative and his mode of escape is gone and the enemy has fled, he shifts back into human form and begins to bind and tend the wounds of the fallen comrades.

OOC: Regenerate Moderate on the stronger one and cure moderate on the others..

Emcat casts heal spells on everyone. Kelnar is weak, but doing well considering. You put Rana to bed to let the gas wear off. Jonathan reports sadly, "I can't wake Wethrin up. I'll do what I can to keep her stable, but really its all up to her now."

[ GE: I occasionally incorporate ad hoc recovery times for those who "go negative." They are generally based on how much dmg the last hit or round of hits dealt relative to the character's max hp, whether criticals were involved, etc. That’s what’s going on here. It is dumb for a character to go form just fine to dead, but its also dumb to go from barely hanging on to just fine. Don't worry, though, I don't use it to screw PCs in any major way, and occasionally it may have a plot purpose.]

Irusyl appears in a flash of black and blue flame, her body burning off magical energies fueled by her fury.

"Jaina! How could they know?! HOW?!"

<checks the bedrooms, sees Rana and Wethrin asleep, notices Wethrin's grave condition>

"ALL IN ONE NIGHT!"

Reality burns away around her, revealing only a thick network of blue strands, some of which cling to her and move with her somewhat.

"All-present Weave, bear witness, reveal!"

The area of pure Weave has grown to be about 20 feet on a side and ten feet tall, and the strands rearrange themselves and change color to present a story much like a 3d movie screen.

A blank figure (shown as a vaguely human outline is shown sucking blood from the neck of a drow pirate captain, who falls to the ground as he is let go. He begins fading from sight. After a while, he is just an outline, and he begins to move as well, but his attacker drives a wooden stake into his heart and he dissipates into dust.

Irusyl: "Shar! Only those who use the Shadow Weave are obscured form the sight of the goddess's all-seeing strands!"

The picture changes to show the ship on which this occurs , called the Kraken, (these pirates are well-known...they board ships by floating hooked, sealed and weighted boxes full of their men to ships, (which are first slowed by massive net traps connected to river-bottoms), after which a team of sauhugan (which also mans the traps) cuts the weights so that the boxes can surface and be used to board. They attacked the other set of PCs, but were fought off). They show the ship sailing into Skullport, and a large group (almost 10) moving in for that attack that you just were the victims of. It shows Jaina, tied up and unconscious, being brought below decks. Some of the crew are only visible as outlines, as is the below-decks area (indicating zones blocked by shadow Weave magic). The crew's voices can be heard. You hear talk of their destination: The experimental drydocks of the temples of Gond and Umberlee in Luskan....

Reality bleeds back into the Weave area and the strands fade.

Irusyl turns to the rest of you. "Sorry for the rage mage bit. I sometimes get carried away. We have to make them pay <voice cracks as if she is starting to cry). Jaina was not just any apprentice. She is the one who can save us all.

He real name is Kirstin of Grom. Her father, Grom the Artificer, was a Netherilese arcanist of great power who created himself a flying enclave. She was Mystral's first attempt at creating an emissary, but her father foolishly traded her life to the Shades in return for some rare spells. She was brought to our time )thus escaping death) by Rana and others inadvertantly while traveling back in time on a mission for the Council. When, after the dissolution of the Council, I hired Rana, Wethrin, and Jonathan, they brought her with. That night the goddess Mystra appeared to me in a dream, commanding me to guard and train this girl, for which I was promised considerable magical power in return.

I grew attached to her, of course. It quickly was no longer about the power. It was as if she were my own kin.

Without her, Storm cannot be defeated. She has the potential ability to channel magical energy so pure, so primal, so powerful, that nothing can resist it...not even spirits...or gods.

Now Shar has taken her, although oddly enough, she has taken her to Gond. Perhaps they can discover a way to understand apply, and duplicate the secrets of her latent abilities. Or, perhaps they intend to use her as the engine of some fell machine.

Regardless, a change of plan is in order. the team sent to Luskan was being tested to be the ones to take Kirstin out into the world so that she can grow in power. She was nearly ready. they know nothing of her special status, however, and cannot yet be told.

Kelnar, Emcat. You two and Rana will meet the other in Luskan. You will hunt down and kill the Kraken, particularly their captain. you will retrieve Kirstin at any cost. She is probably in the dungeons below the temple of Gond, where they will need to go anyway.

The team already in place does not know why they are to do the things that they are doing, and you are not to tell them. However, I know that the temples of Gond and Umberlee are working together one building a fleet of ships enhanced by both magic and machines, which can finally challenge the elven navy.

The plan is lucrative. So lucrative, in fact, that an ambassador from Storm will soon be meeting with the High Priest of Umberlee to review the progress of the fleet and discuss a formal alliance.

Kelnar, your government hired me to pave the way for a preemptive strike (TECHNICALY: Preventative Strike) against the Luskan threat. In the vault under the temple of Gond, they will find the various designs for these new ships. With the destruction of the temple of Umberlee and perhaps some of the docks nearby, they will create quite a distraction, destroy some ships, and, most importantly, destroy the weather-controlling devices (and the priests who can cause similar effects) in the temple’s towers. A few ships of Elven and Northern Allience forces will already have arrived under merchant cover. In the short time of confusion before the area can be mobilized and reinforced, Luskan’s fleet will be struck from air and sea, and by saboteurs already placed on land.

Kelnar, I can read your thoughts if you let me. When the destruction of the temple of Umberlee is about to occur, open your mind to me, and the order will be sent out. If the temple and its weather-controlling devices are not destroyed in time, the invaders will be cut to ribbons by hurricane-force winds, so as a precaution, I will contact you when the invaders are about to reach a point of no return. It your mission has not yet been completed, the attack will be cancelled.

Any questions?

<sorry Leo about the Kelnar-centricness of this…you didn’t really write a background, so its hard to give you a special role>
