Age of Worms experience

Has anyone played the Age of Worms campaign all the way through in 3.5e or 5e? If so, just how lethal is it? How many characters died getting there (also how many stayed dead and weren't ressurected)? What was the most dangerous part of the campaign?

Very lethal, I found. It was my last 3e campaign, and while the final adventure expects the original PCs to be present, none were present, and some players were on a 3rd PC by the end. My players weren't big on resurrection back then, and I pulled no punches as a DM.

Unfortunately, that was over a decade ago, and I don't remember exactly which encounters were the toughest.

I believe that JollyDoc had an Age of Worms story hour hosted here on ENworld a long time back. He had a group of highly efficient power gamers, but it would probably give you an idea of how it runs.

Out of curiosity, how dangerous were the Kyuss worms, what with their ability to burrow into the flesh of Characters and devour them from the inside out? Did anyone lose a character to them?
