Age of Worms H/C - unlikely :(

Just wait another year. When back issues of Dungeon start drying up and the Wotc Expedition series has run its course, there will be renewed interest.

Not me: I've just got Part 2 of War of the Burning Sky, so I'm as happy as Larry.

Ditto.

While WotC is shooting itself in the foot, EN World/ EN Publishing continues to outdo themselves, offering reasonably priced PDF's for WotBS, OR print versions for those who prefer it.

Kudos to everyone involved in WotBS, and Jeers to TPTB over at WotC for this (IMHO) poor decision.

Thanks for that, Erik. I'm sure I speak for others when I say we appreciate it.

As with "Shackled City", I own all the relevant "Dungeon" issues, but would still be interested in a harback copy for my collection. :)

Since Paizo is starting their own line of modules later this year, I'd like to see AP4 printed just as modules, not in the magazine, to avoid this issue. At this point, they've got a track record we know we can rely upon for quality. OK, they'll lose the rights to some monsters and some IP, but so what? I'd like to see them knock this ball out of the freaking park and produce an AP that'll be available in perpetuity.

In my opinion, WotC's shooting itself in the foot here. They seem to have completely forgotten the lessons that led to the success of 3e six years ago; a healthy RPG industry is one that means more sales for WotC. Stupid, stupid.

I second that stupid and raise you an idiotic.

Erik,

While you're at it, maybe you can give Clark and Bill a nice home so their wives can live in the comfort they are accustomed too? Pretty please?

In this thread on the Paizo boards, James Jacobs notes that a hardcover compilation of The Age of Worms AP is looking less and less likely.

This is a real shame, as it would be a great resource (especially if some of the Dragon articles made it in there as well).

Seems like WotC won't give it the red light - this book would likely dent their own adventure sales, which are rapidly becoming market leaders. So if I want it, I'll have to invest in the back issues to get all the modules.

Ah well. Such is life...

I think WotC is jealous or something. Cause I think that may be the same reason they gave Paizo the red light on Dragon Compendium Volume Two cause the first did very well.

Two important points need to be added to this thread.

1. Wizards has never actually said "no" to our Age of Worms hardcover proposals. They have said, repeatedly, "not now." I've dealt with the company for five years (and worked there for three before that). "No" and "not now" are not necessarily the same thing.

2. Wizards has never told us why, exactly, they haven't let us do this. The obvious reason is that our license with them covers magazines and not hardcovers. Hardcovers must be negotiated seperately, and hence require special permissions. So all of the speculation that Wizards is "blocking" an Age of Worms hardcover because they are afraid of the competition, because our adventures make them look bad, etc. is exactly that: Speculation.

Even I don't know for sure what's going on behind the scenes at Wizards of the Coast.

But I'm not done asking about this product, and I haven't given up on it yet.

Is there a reasoning behind no Dragon Compendium Volume Two with WotC? Or did they say "not now" to that one too?
