They didn't before the empire, and people still supposedly didn't even know they were real.

10000 jedi in a galaxy of trillions.

It would be the equivalent of 2-4 people on our planet doing obscure stuff. Specific subsection of shooting monks or handful of Monks at Mount Athos.

You might know they exist think modern day Knights of Malta perhaps. Unless you specifically look them up what does the average Mook know wbout them?

Zoroastrians in Iran are more numerous comparatively than Jedi.

Absolutely. But as evidenced by Han Solo, the average person had no idea what a Jedi was capable of or that the Force could be used to do magical things. (They might have heard stories about Jedi doing amazing things but they’d most likely have thought of them as nothing more than stories … and by the New Republic time, even those stories would have faded / been erased from the public consciousness.)
Not a chance. They were all over the galaxy helping save people from pirates, disasters, whatever. Even if most people never saw the jedi personally, there would be story after story after story after story of I know a guy who knows a guy and this jedi saved a kitten from a tree, and that jedi held off 10 pirates all by herself.

It has only been like 20something years. Most of the current inhabitants of the galaxy were alive before the war and the rise of the empire. Maybe if several hundred years had passed the stories would have faded and been erased, but there's no chance of it happening that quickly.

2-4 people running around using "magic" to save people would make international news in 1.3 seconds. And there would be lots and lots and lots of video. It would be all over Tiktok!!!!

And yet that’s not how it is in the GFFA. Jedi and their powers are virtually unknown. Remember that Han says he’s been all over the galaxy and seen all sorts of stuff but doesn’t believe the Force is real. Han represents your average galactic citizen.

I agree that it’s ridiculous that everyone should forget in such a short span of time, but that’s how Lucas wanted it to be.

Which was what I said. Ridiculous, but pure SW.
