Ahsoka - SPOILERS

You just need individual planets that would have recorded histories and their own versions of an internet, so pretty much all of them.
The effect of the internet is people actually know less, because they don't need to learn stuff when they can look it up.

Tell me, without using the internet, who where the commanders at the battle of Edge Hill? That's part of your planet's recorded history.

Which would have a major impact after most people who were around are dead, but in Star Wars they are still alive to know what was true.

Had I been alive then(like the vast majority of the people in Star Wars 27 years later), I could have told you a hell of a lot more.

Ahhh. I guess I mixed in the Seperatist Crisis with the Clone Wars. Didn’t realize they were different.

Doesn’t really change my point though. Thousands of worlds see the Jedi as the enemy.
So, they know the Jedi are real, and what they can do? That's all anyone is arguing.... That the idea people don't know they are real is ludicrous

Well no. That’s not what started this side bar. The argument was that everyone knew who Luke Skywalker is.

That sort of morphed into this really weird rabbit hole.

I think there are people missing just how huge an impact propaganda can have. The Imperials have been in control of official information for about 2 decades by the time of ANH. There are plenty of real world examples of propaganda totally deranging large segments of the population in less time.
Couple that with the fact that anyone actually encountering or having been directly affected by a Jedi being an extremely small minority in a galaxy of trillions of inhabitant, and I wouldn’t be at all surprised that Jedi aren’t spoken of widely, are viewed somewhat cynically, and are revered only among a minority of malcontents (rebels).

Go back...I started this. 100% I stated that the idea no one knew who the Jedi were was stupid. If others are now arguing that people would know Luke's name after episode four, that also seems likely, given he blew up the death star. But I'm not interested in that.... I'm interested in the idea that people didn't believe the force was real, and that they didn't know what Jedi could do.

Numerous responses have said it's not about the names at all ...

You xan name the Nazi leaders but without Google or a book how much detail can you recall?

A fair amount.

And they're extensively written about Jedi not do much.

Who says? You?

If there were super powered magic people in the world, I guarantee they’d be written about a lot. They’d be on TV all the time. They’d be more famous than the Cadashians.

And as for the “there aren’t many Jedi, so they can’t be famous” arguments. There are fewer Cardashians than Nazi leaders, too. Yet somehow they’re famous. There’s only one Pope, but he’s famous. Movie stars are a tiny percentage of population. Bizarrely, they’re famous despite that? What’s the numbers got to do with anything? You don’t have to be numerous to famous.

Yep. This week Kendall Jenner, Hailey Bieber, Lori Harvey and Justine Skye wen yachting in Mexico, Kathy Griffin got her lips tattooed, and newlyweds Jack Antonoff and Margaret Qually were seen for the first time since their wedding! 🤦‍♂️

It hurt me to look that stuff up, but it's out there for anyone who wants to know just about every detail of these famous peoples' lives.

I'd actually follow magic people with laser swords, though.

The pace is a bit slow for the number of episodes they have, but overall, I had some fun. The villains seem interesting at least, and so does the mystery about this extra-galactic location. And for now, the evil mastermind's superweapon is apparently a giant hyperspace ring that allows travel to other galaxies, right? That's a change of pace!
I don't know if you need to have seen Clone Wars or Rebels to "get" it, but I did, so whatever.

The Captain of that ship in the beginning was too arrogant for his own good, but he definitely had no reasons to believe that he was inviting two Dark Force users aboard. The last Sith presumably died on Endor. The Jedi that exist is in your side, and they aren't that numerous. He had every reason to believe there were some imposters trying to pull something.

And he had every reason to investigate the matter and not just ignore it. They mentioned that they were expecting to rendezvous with Home One, but this shuttle appears . They didn't seem to be at a major travel route or hub, that any shuttle randomly comes along is highly suspicious and it seems it would be his duty to investigate. Taking them aboard is the easiest way to capture them without them having a chance to escape or being destroyed in a firefight. They could have instead send another ship to inspect them, but that carries its own risk. And the end result wouldn just have been those Dark Siders capturing the inspection vessel (or going along with a "capture" and then overpowering their guards).

I think, too, it's unlikely that the Jedi would be completely forgotten, especially since many people were still alive when they were around and leading battle armies. But after a decade or two propaganda and persecution of any "Jedi" or "Jedi friends", it's likely very few are still talking openly about it, so someone like Han might have taken them for children stories.

The jedi are famous in term if people knowing they exist. Look at various conspiracy tgeiries that have taken off last decade or so. That's without direct government intervention.

We the viewers at hone see the jedi close up. Jedi and Sith both obfuscate a bit even their basic knowledge devices can't really be accessed without the force.

The Jedi fought in the clone wars turns out they were traitors the Seperatists were lead by them. Once Dooku got killed the Jedi turned on good
chancellor Palapatine who caught the jedi assassination attempt (edited) on holofilm!!

They always been secretive and have rumored mystical ability beyond the even of us. Don't trust em can't control them.
There's your scape goat and your others right there.
