Leia made good decisions without being an overpowered Mary Sue. General Syndulla in this series makes good decisions without being an overpowered Mary Sue. Mon Mothma made good decisions without being an overpowered Mary Sue. Bo-Katan made good decisions without being an overpowered Mary Sue.

It's almost like...

You're overgeneralizing and not making the point that you think you are. ;)
In the OT, what decisions did Leia ever have to make? What difficult choices did she ever have?

Umm, Hera makes good decisions? Really? She brings a child to a battle, disobeys a direct order and implicates Leia in outright treason against the New Republic. You do realize that lying to the government is actually not a good thing right? Defrauding the government is something that usually gets you put in jail. Certainly stripped of rank. Hera should be in jail. Absolutely should be. She disobeyed a direct order then perjured herself before the court and engaged in conspiracy to commit treason. And you think that's a good idea?

As far as Mon Mothma or Bo-Katan go, what decisions have they had to make? What difficult choices did they have?

Disobeying orders might be bad from a military POV, but it can be the right thing to do from a moral or pragmatic POV. And Hera is a resistance fighter/terrorist who only became a general by way of being on the winning side. She is not carrier military. And her ship is her personal property and family home, not the property of the military.

Plus, the New Republic is made up of a variety of rebel groups (hence Rebel Alliance) who, in turn, had a history of independence and irregularity. They're going to experience a tendency toward waywardness and independent action for quite a while (right up to the sequel trilogy, it turns out...).
She may be doing things without orders, but none of it would be treason. There's no enemy Hera's in bed with nor is she trying to bring the government down or directly attacking it.

I guess the question is, do I have to go all the way back to the start of Clone Wars? Or can I just jump in at Rebels?
Personally, I think it is a richer journey to watch Ahsoka grow from a bit of a bratty padawan into a wiser, centered character. Also, there are some other characters from Clone Wars who show up in Rebels, so knowing their backstory when they show up is more rewarding. I know CW is a big investment of viewing time, but I think it is worth it.

Starting from moment one in deciding to send the Death Star plans to Obi-wan and up to and including deciding to go rescue Han from Jabba? Nothing I guess. ;)

Add to those good decisions the good decision to back Hera in the current series.

100% She disobeyed bad orders by making the good decision to try and thwart Thrawn's return. She almost succeeded and because of her good decision making, the Republic is now preparing for said return.

The jail and stripping of rank you mention? Well, the saying "There's no good deed that goes unpunished," comes to mind. As for treason, it's not treason to protect the country you serve, even if it means disobeying orders and being stripped of rank. She aided no enemies against the Republic and engaged in no treason.
As far as Mon Mothma
The leader of the rebellion made no good decisions in overthrowing the Empire?
Bo-Katan go, what decisions have they had to make? What difficult choices did they have?
She made several in the Mandalorian. Those resulted in her current position and in saving Din Djarin's life.

Hera didn’t aid the enemy you say?

So she ordered Ahsoka to not go to the planet with Sabine, as per the orders she was given, and then enforced those orders?

Sorry but those were lawful (if stupid) orders. Generals don’t get to disobey those without consequences. And the pilots that went with her? They should also be in jail.

Sorry. I said treason. The proper charge I suppose would be mutiny. Either way.

Btw I said difficult decisions not good decisions. There is a difference. Sabine had no immediate reason to tell Ezra the whole truth. And many (bad) personal reasons for not doing so.

Mutiny would be closer but, as I've said before, a New Republic failing to recognize that its constituent rebel bands will take time to integrate into a Republic Navy and work out its pockets of independence and enforcing bureaucratic order through the courts martial will soon find itself with no good commanders. Fortunately, there are some within the new government who understand this and are willing to retroactively approve Hera's initiative.

Umm. It’s been ten years. It’s not like the Empire fell yesterday.

And we’re not talking about some corporal going awol for s&g’s. This is a general who stole illegally took several pilots with her and they were killed.

And then she illegally got orders “created” by her friend to “sanction” her mission.

What part of that is okay?

Funny how all those arguments about the New Republic being incompetent suddenly vanish.

For what it is worth Hera bringing Jacen to a gunfight is not that different than the Enterprise or Orville bringing children to gunfights. The ship is sort of their house. We do not even know if Cham Syndulla is still alive, who would be Jacen's only other known relative.

Older, wise, Ahsoka makes a certain amount of sense. But I do want her to show that same spark she had when she told Maul, "You'll find I have many qualities for you to dislike."
