Airwalkrr's Shatterscape OOC (D&D 3.5)

I like the map, hafrogman. Good work.

I like the connecting of the two forests, though we can say there is a thinning of the forests between the Vale and the Forest of Bronze. It could be more like the two woods grew separately and eventually met each other in the middle so they might be made up of entirely different kinds of trees even.

Arcanaman, any chance you'll be able to join us in the IC soon? Not trying to rush you. If need be you can always jump in at a later point so take your time. Just let me know where you are at.

Sounds fine with me, although for area reasons Id have to say this split is to the east of the road(so the road is in the Veil). Nothing wrong with it, just keeps the main road out of "the forest few have entered since the time of nightmares"

The way I picture it, the forest just comes up to the edge of the road. So no one has gone east off the road into the forest.

I was thinking more that the river even would be the "official" dividing line. So people travel up and down the river, but hug the western bank at that point. I tried to place the road like that specifically. It skirts around the Forest of the Bronze Dragon, and then crosses over to the Lawless Hills, which may be crawling with bandits, but at least it's better than walking through the haunted moorlands.

Heh...I like it. Kinda makes the river a very diverse wildlife habitat, and a good fishing hole for the risky adventurer.

Umm...about to post something small, but wanted to quickly check with you guys on if it would make sense for their to be Gleaner mages around to help support farms?

Like an order of wizards who just help with harvests? Seems a little bit beneath them, to be honest.

But I could see a handful (perhaps otherwise retired) who volunteer their time. Or a group of wizards who view it as a charity event, and do other things through the rest of the year. Or perhaps more like hedge wizards (adept class, perhaps) who live in the villages as farmers and use their magic to lend a hand.

But really, anything can fit if you throw in the ideas behind it. Why they do it, etc.

I like the idea of hedge wizards, or some other type of group who practices magic but who never wields something truly dangerous or powerful. Perhaps there are a group of wizards who flunk out of being an apprentice but still learn enough to be helpful to the villages they return.

Hmm...Mage was probably the wrong term. Im speaking mostly of this class Giant In the Playground Games as I figured there would be such natural casters out there to support farm, and in times of trouble.

Actually thinking about it now, that kinda makes me think I should try to make an organization or something...heh

I would be ok with it, as long as they aren't as common as popcorn. It should be an unusual gift that is highly treasured among common folk. Perhaps gleaners have a special mark or something. They are important in a way adventurers can never be important in that they help hold a community together.

Noted!
