Airwalkrr's Shatterscape OOC (D&D 3.5)

[sblock=Walkers on the Shattered Path]When the Dreamer came, the world changed. The humans were divided, the goblin empire was broken, the elves were twisted by darkness, the gnomes were touched with madness, the halflings were cast adrift, and the dwarves were cast down. But we, the orcs, the greatest race, only we were strong enough to withstand the Dreamer. We overcame, and were raised above all other peoples.

The other races were fools. They sought to fight against the Dreamer. But ours has always been a different path. We embraced the Dreamer, and rode with him to glory. Others could stand beside us, but in their ignorance they resisted the truth of Chaos, and were swept aside before our tide.

Before the time of the Dreamer, the Chief of our tribe captured a human. But this was no ordinary human, for he had wisdom and clarity normally denied to his race. He claimed membership with the Order of the Changing Sky, and this intrigued the Chief, who spared him his life for a while. These humans had taken the first steps along the true path, but they did not understand the power they could wield if they were willing to use it. From Chaos comes truth, the truth of the past, the truth of the now, and most importantly, the truth of the future.

The Chief ripped the secrets of the order from the human, and took them unto himself. But he would not content himself with the limits that the humans set on themselves. They were weak, he was strong. He stared deep into the heart of Chaos, deeper than any human would ever dare, and there he found the truth.

It nearly drove him mad, and he clawed out one of his own eyes in the exstacy brought on by the visions of true Chaos. But it was a small price to pay, for with it came the ability to see much, much more. He was the first Walker on the Shattered Path. He fortold the coming of the Dreamer, and laid out the path for his people. He started a trusted few on the path with him, claiming an eye from each as the price of wisdom.

When Chaos made itself known on the face of the earth, when the Dreamer dreamed, the orcs were ready. The Walkers led the tribe as it wandered through Chaos. But Chaos holds no fears for those who have embraced the path. The Walkers could see where to lead the people, where to step, where to avoid. And eventually, the Walkers led us here, to Stonheim where we cast down the dwarves, and orcs now rule.

In the time since the dreaming, some have forgotten what we owe to the Walkers of the Shattered Path, but do not think their time has passed. They still walk among us, marked by the eye they sacrificed for their power. They see all, and their time will come again, when Chaos will reign, and then the orcs shall rise to greater heights. To rule not one mountain, but the world. And all shall tremble at our coming.[/sblock]

I like the map, hafrogman. Good work.

I like the connecting of the two forests, though we can say there is a thinning of the forests between the Vale and the Forest of Bronze. It could be more like the two woods grew separately and eventually met each other in the middle so they might be made up of entirely different kinds of trees even.

Arcanaman, any chance you'll be able to join us in the IC soon? Not trying to rush you. If need be you can always jump in at a later point so take your time. Just let me know where you are at.

Kenku17 and arcanaman, make sure to keep track of what spells you have prepared at any given time. Once the spell is cast, indicate so by placing an asterisk by it.
 



I have a quick note on XPs. Generally XP awards for combat encounters will come after a good night's rest of at least six hours. Story awards and roleplaying XP can come at any time.
 


By the way, Kenku, I don't remember if I suggested it, but because the cleric's turn undead ability is such a niche ability, I would be ok with allowing you to swap it for another effect. Something like a healing touch might be beneficial. I think along the lines of expending a turn attempt to heal 2d6 + cleric's level + Charisma modifier would be fine. It would also let you actually use your spells for something other than healing. And if later you decided you wanted to have the ability to turn undead, I would be ok with you spending a feat to get it back.

I would actually be cool with that, and would make sense in the case of the character. Hmm....to make it fair, Im guessing the choice to switch between the two funtions be part of the daily preparations?
