D&D General Alleged disgruntled NuTSR insider spills the beans.

So Venger Satanis being the "high priest" of Cthulu is essentially meaningless?

I cannot speak to any particular belief system. Going by the literature, though, at best it is a "I'll eat you last," sort of thing. A real Mythos expert can correct me if I am wrong, but it is not clear to me that Cthulhu is actually aware that humans worship, and wouldn't care.

As much as Venger Satanis considers himself a follower/demigod of Cthulu, considering his lack of effectiveness in organizing conventions/designing games/convincing people to mobilize under his command, I'm guessing that if Cthulu WAS real, Venger would probably be consumed as non-Euclidian foodstuffs rather than be elevated to an officer in the subhuman army LOL.
From what I've seen, Venger doesn't even have the self-awareness of a 14-yo wannabe edgelord to realize that that he's become a joke, so I don't expect he has thought through his worship of a fictional Mythos monster beyond thinking, "this is TOTAL edge, dude!".

He does seem blissfully unaware of his own ridiculousness, on almost every level. Like the 14 year old who proudly wears the WINGER t-shirt (unironically) during the live Winger concert in his hometown. No idea how really bad he looks in the eyes of others.

Or possibly "I'll eat you first, thus sparing you the torture and insanity". But yes.

I suspect if Cthulhu etc. are eating any humans, we’re probably as indistinguishable to them as individual motes in a pixie stick.

I think some of it is that Dishaw just doesn't understand... a lot of things. Case in point the phrase "badly drawn".

Now granted. I should have said written, instead of making fun of looks, which wasn't my intent, I really meant written, but drawn is what I wrote. Mea culpa.
To be fair, his character design is also a bit on the nose.

It's unfortunate that if TSRCon actually happens, there's every chance that people are going to get sick at Gary Con as a result. Being immunized, boosted, and coming with a bunch of KN95s, I'm hopeful that I'll be fine. Assuming nothing new happens pandemic-wise that would make me have to cancel going...again.

There's no practical way to implement a ban on TSRCon-goers, but it would be nice.

It's very clear at this point that they have nothing. They've lost this particular war.

My issue is that I just wish Luke Gygax would ban people that are planning on visiting both GaryCon and TSRCon. If they're going to run around unmasked at the Dungeon Hobby Shop Museum and attend a FAKE convention, I would prefer at that point that they stay at the museum and don't come back to infect people at the REAL convention. They're going to be disease-spreaders. I would prefer some distance between the people who care about such things as immunizations and wearing masks... and the mouth-breathing people who think otherwise. I don't want to have to deal with it.

Fixed it for you...

Anyone with an actual sense of humor and no hair would've responded with a "Do you mean baldly drawn?" joke. Missed opportunity there!
