Alternate uses for Action Points

In my last D&D session, I used "Brownie Points" as a reward. BPs were, basically, pennies that could be "spent" for things. You got BPs for doing cool things, enhanching the game, roleplaying well, etc. You could never have more than 5 at a time. You could spend them to do things like add a +4 to a d20 roll (1 BP), automatically stabalize (2 BPs) or have a comrade automatically stabalize (3 BPs).

Anyway, my point is, with Action Points and they way they work, which I like btw, are there any "other" uses you can see for Action Points? Are there any that you have used in your campaign?

I'm just looking for alternatives to the standard "add +1d6 to a d20 roll."

In my d20 stargate game you can use your "lucky breaks" to...

Add +5 to a roll you are about to make.
reroll a roll you just made.
Add +5 to your defense, even when its not your turn, for one round.
use a class ability more times than you are normally allowed. (One per use.)
gain the abilities of a feat you qualify for but do not have for the duration of the scene. (Great roleplaying for those feats "you will take next.")
