Am I insane? Was there DR in 2nd edition D&D?

Redundant information snipped.
It never ceases to amaze me that people post stuff that has already been covered repeatedly earlier in a thread, and even a day before those people post. Do people not read the thread and everything that's been discussed to date before throwing in their 2 cents? Don't think I'm singling you out, Belbarrus. You're just an easy target. :)

Blah. This is a pet peeve of mine, and I needed to vent. Thanks, and carry on.

Oh yeah, on topic. I think I read somewhere that Unearthed Arcana had some sort of DR-like thing. Maybe somebody should dig that up...

There was no DR in 2E (mabye in combat and tacticts or something, but I don't even think there). Just the "Needs +X to hurt".

Not ENTIRELY true, if I remember correctly... Mostly yes,
you need a +X weapon to hurt creatures that need +X to hit. UNLESS you're using natural weapons and your hit dice are > 4*X. Every 4 hit dice acted like a +1 in terms of being able to hit with natural weapons.

This was to prevent magic weapon resistant monsters from
wiping areas of all other creatures (most monsters generally don't have magical weapons around).
