D&D 5E Amazon, Minor Fail

Wavy. Saw that. Didn't think much of it because I did not open the books. It's a bit more noticeable once you open the book.

Two of the books had very slight corner indentation as if the box had been dropped on its side. One had a corner indentation and a corner tear.

That's interesting, I ordered the premium reprints of AD&D recently and I noticed a similar thing.

I hope my 5e PHB won't have that. I ordered mine from Amazon, and pre-ordered months ago, but according to the website it still hasn't even been shipped

I ordered mine two day delivery instead of free shipping in order to get them before Saturday when I hand them out to the group. More money, but what the heck? You can't take it with you (unless you are a Vampire or a Lich).

Oh, see I am of the undead variety which is why I went with free shipping. But it also explains why mine hasn't shipped yet

I have never had a problem with Amazon shipping or packaging, but UPS said they tried to deliver mine
at 8:43 am Eastern time. I was home sitting on the couch next to the door at that time and the said nobody was home, and they could not leave it unatended. The guy never even drove down my street.
That drives me crazy.

It's good to know that irrespective of countries, the postal service is always the same.

I lived in Colorado and we had this snowstorm that dropped 1.5 or 2 feet. The roads were clear, but my driveway was not. It was about 100 feet long.

I was waiting all day for a computer and even had UPS on the phone at the time and I said "Oh, he's here. Nevermind.".

Before I could even put my coat on, he had waited 10 seconds, saw the driveway, and drove away.

Just go on to amazon chat ... Tell them and they'll ship a new one overnight and probably won't even ask you to return the damaged one.

I could of done that, but the damage was so minor that it felt like ripping them off. I did get on Chat and talked with Customer Service, but when they asked if I wanted a new book, I told them no. I wanted them to fix the issue so that other people never have the problem.

At least yours arrived.....mine are delayed due to outside circumstances.....

Mine has not even shipped yet....getting annoyed.

I've consistently had this problem with Amazon. Nearly 75% of the hardcover books I order arrive with at least some damage to the cover. The worst was a Star Wars EotE book which had enough damage to the bottom of the spine that the cover actually tore (it was a gift so I didn't bother trying to have them return it). My 5e book thankfully had no major damage to it, the only thing is that the corners were very slightly smashed and the pages wavy (which I blame on the printing process). I've had the deflated plastic packaging cushion as well, which means that the thing popped by the time it arrived thus offering no protection at all.

Amazon's packaging for books used to be a lot better in my experience. I remember often they would place books on top of a cardboard sheet and then shrink-wrap the book(s) in heavy plastic. The book(s) would not move at all in the box and I would get them in perfect shape. I don't know if my recent experiences have to do with ordering them with 2 day shipping. Maybe they just don't take the time to package them properly when they have to rush to get it shipped. I should order some hard cover books with the 7 day shipping and see how they arrive.
