Amazon takes over Bond franchise

See, I don’t enjoy MI at all. I think I watched the first two, but I haven’t made it all the way through any of the others. They’re just bland action without style or character to me.

Luckily both can exist. Let’s hope they don’t become the same now.
I mostly feel the same about the Bond movies with a few exceptions. Martin Campbell's work on CASINO ROYALE might be the best of the modern Bond films, period.

I just wish people would keep the numbers and not just drop it for something else. I cannot track which one I need to watch next after MI-III and not sure if it is Ghost or Rogue, or Fallout. I also cannot tell by just looking if Tom Cruise appears older.

I know that I've seen almost all of the MI movies. And I know that I enjoyed watching them. But other than the first one I couldn't tell you anything specific about any one of them. They all just kind of blend into "generic action movie" in my memory. And the "generic action" names don't help any. Adding the numbers back would at least give me some reference.

Not to get too negative, but "bland action" is kinda the state of Bond for me at this point as well. The wide number of different actors, styles, and takes that I've seen of 007 has made him more generic than iconic.

I think figuring out how to make 007 fresh and stand out will be a real uphill battle for Amazon. Of course, he also still seems to make a lot of money as a generic spy, so maybe they won't even try for fresh. If the formula works it's probably not a bad formula.

I think what they did with Craig's Bond was pretty fresh and at least in my opinion makes his Bond superior to what came before. They gave him an emotional arc with Vesper Lynd at least in the first two movies. He's more human than he's ever been in CASINO ROYALE and QUANTUM OF SOLACE (aside from Dalton's Bond in LICENSE TO KILL). There's also the the wounded animal aspect of the character who eventually learns that, hey maybe leaving people alive to question them for actual INTEL might be a good idea. LOL.

So. I guess it’s all-change for Bond. Young James Bond live-action TV show incoming, no doubt? Blofeld as a kid? The origins of Spectre? A multi 00 team-up? The wacky adventures of Q Branch? I guess we’ll find out!
Nooooo please noooo to all of these. Except Multi 00 team up, that's fine.

I really hope they properly reboot this and abandon all the demented nonsense with Bond and Blofeld growing up together.

They seem to keep Doctors around for around 3 seriess...which gives Ncuti Gatwa one more series. I'd nominate him for the next James Bond. He has the chops, has the youth, and could be Bond for a good, long, time.
