Amazon takes over Bond franchise

And I loved the TV show.

The first was decent, the second sucked (in an almost interesting way), 3 was J. J. Abrams doing his J. J. Abrams thing. After that, they started cooking.

The show is another matter, classic Desilou camp just like TOS Star Trek.

Absolutely, but the specific Desilou touches those shows share in common are particularly noatalgiac: especially when they repurposed sets or props, lol.

But if I had to guess, while acknowledging that that’s all it is, I imagine we’re talking money. It has a habit of getting in everywhere.

It is funny you say that, because the MI movies only really start getting good around the 4th one. It is one of those rare examples of a franchise getting better as it goes on.

And yet I liked them less and less. At least there was always Bond!

Money and time. The Bond franchise has been fallow for a few years. EON cannot distribute anything without Amazon's participation, which would likely make financing difficult without Amazon's approval. One side or yhe other would have to give eventually. And Amazon not only could afford to pay to ease the process, they could afford to wait anyone out by inaction.

You said you hadn't actually made it through any of them except the mediocre first and terribad second.

Dead Reckoning kinda lost me a little, I don't particularly like their take on "evil AI". But I'll wait to see the rest of it in Final Reckoning before fully making up my mind.

But yeah, Ghost Protocol, Rogue Nation and Fallout are all excellent.

Yeah, I wasn't happy with one thing in particular in DEAD RECKONING but the rest are pretty darn good.

I just wish people would keep the numbers and not just drop it for something else. I cannot track which one I need to watch next after MI-III and not sure if it is Ghost or Rogue, or Fallout. I also cannot tell by just looking if Tom Cruise appears older.
