I voted neutral. He did, after all build the greatest empire of the continent. He did, after all, survive for thousands of years to cause fear, death and division in middle earth. He was, for good reason, the most feared and hated individual on Arda. The world would have been a very different place without him, I (or rather my evil alter-egos ;)) can respect that.
On the other hand, he failed.
Blame it on senility, madness or burn-out, but for some reason his actions the last two years of his existance were for the most part amazingly foolish. He was weak and stupid and deserved to die. The God Emperor would have... well, I guess that's irrelevant  ;)
On the other hand, it was not really his fault, he was destined to that fate. Tolkien is who's really to blame. His flagrant mistreatment and discrimination of the evil beings of his world and his favorization of the side of good was outrageous. Edena would make a far better moderator of a LOTR-IR, his dedication to both plot and balance ... well ... it's good :D

Btw. Edena: Your last post was magnificent, almost enough to convince me, if i hadn't read the books.

A REQUEST TO THE MODERATORS

If you'all don't mind, I wish to take Sauron's pleas for understanding (that is, the 3 posts over in the Poor Sauron! thread and the 1 post above) over to In Character.

After all, I am effectively roleplaying an imaginary Sauron (the real Sauron would never, of course, behave like this)
This will give others the chance to respond, IC, to Sauron's pleas.
It will also give me a chance to play Glorfindel, so I can give a rebuttal to my rebuttals!

Is that ok with you?
It'd be really neat, if you all don't mind! :)

I could also move the poll over. The poll is, of course, meant humorously.

Jesus, Edena - get outside! ;)
Do something away from the computer! LOL

Even without reading that other Sauron thread, your ONE POST as Sauron here almost killed me (actually, i got one paragraph in and bolted)

What explains your long-windedness online?
Wait - how fast do you type?

At full speed, I type 80 words per minute.
However, when I am writing, I type anywhere from 10 to 30 words per minute.

As for my long-windedness, blame it on Sauron. After all, it is Sauron I am depicting! (well, not really. Rather, he is Sauron Lite. :D )

Writing is good for the nerves.
It is good for the mind.
It expands one's vocabulary.
It blows the cobwebs out of one's head.
It allows for personal interaction with others.
Did I mention that it was fun?

As for outside - outside is for softball.
Softball is a good game.
Unfortunately, my softball buddies are away right now.
Therefore, I write instead.

Are you trying to tell me that evil Sauron Lite's words almost killed you?
I do believe the evil Sauron Lite would be hideously, manically delighted, were he to hear this news. :D

Ok, here is what Sauron (my version, Sauron Lite) would say as per the SHORT verion.

The elves know everything, of course.
The elves tell everyone what to do.
Most everyone, bows to the elves.
I don't bow to the elves, and the Children of Melkor don't either.
So the elves try to kill me, they destroy my home, and they slaughter Melkor's Children.
Later, the elves return, and this second time around their plots and assaults succeed - I'm killed, and the Children of Melkor are massacred.
After I'm gone, the elves then all leave the world.
They leave the world in the control of the Dunedain, elven lackeys since the beginning.
That stinks.
Do you hear? It STINKS.

(looks at the poll)

Yes!
Sauron, ol buddy, we're winning the PR battle.
I'll make a successful politician out of you yet.
You'll be gladly put back in Barad-Dur, which others will rebuild for you, and you'll be made Ruler of Middle-Earth once more, and that Aragorn scum will be put in his place!
