To quote the Offspring, "[he's] just a sucker with no self-esteem." He's, what? 17, 18? And more-or-less completely unsocialized; he was raised by one crazy guy with ulterior motives, in a Hell dimension, with presumably *no other social contacts*. That Connor's a sucker for any pretty face is absolutely no surprise to me.
Plus there's the possibility that the nameless nonphysical evil entity possessing Cordy (gee, doesn't that sound like a good description of the First Evil?) is using what power it has to help dig its hooks into Connor, and keep 'em there. Check out how Connor & Angel (and almost everyone else, per the preview) are reacting to the embodied nameless evil -- obedience and awe. Mayne Connor was just getting the first taste.

I'm not sure;
something sent the snowstorm in the Buffy episode "Amends". I suppose if the Powers are evil, but oppose the First (or had their own plans for Angel), then they could've been willing to interfere. Or the Powers are (relatively) good guys, but were manipulated, too, and now they've been neutralized somehow. Too close to call, at this point.
BTW, my favorite line: Skip, dismissing the idea of someone coming back from a Higher Plane, says something like, "Nobody comes back from paradise. Well, except for that Slayer that time."
