Re: she was

Needle and thread.

That's some mighty fine needlework there! :D

It would take some exceptionally bad writing for this to be the First, and for it to fool Wes and the others. They were shocked to see her, and the universal reaction would be to touch her. People believe their hands much more readily than they believe their eyes. It is still _possible_ that it's the First.

Although Jasmine has been defeated, I wonder if the danger is really over. The series is heading in a new direction, if it continues, and they've talked about some pretty major changes happening _before_ then.

Good morning addicts. :)

So no one has brought up Jasmine's ambiguous morality yet. This is based on not only her actions and (superficial?) goals for world peace, but on things that Lila was saying in the preview for next week.

Is it possible that even though Jasmine was certainly (lawful) evil, she was actually the "good guys" in the coming apocalypse? Or in fact, one of the powers that be? Kinda adds a nice subversive aspect to the underlying story arc.
Well, you also have to factor in the Other World. Was that world really her primary, or this one, and the first was a trial run like she said? Would this world have ended the same and she moved onto the next? She didn't care about people, she just wanted to be overlord.

Also, there was more to her plot. She created Conner, she got Cordelia the way she wanted, all so she could combine them into making her.
But, what did the rain of fire, and the Uber guy matter? Was Uber just to kill Wolfram and Hart? Did they pose it a threat? What plans did she have for Angelus?
I don't know if there's a backstory there to justify the hoops she jumped through. Once she had Conner and Cordelia, she could have simply gone on a trip, without the destruction of LA, they wouldn't have been missed...

I think a lot of this was just diversionary tactics. It kept Angel Investigations busy while Cordy let the pregnancy come to term. They had really only just figured out she was evil by the time she was practically ready to give birth. Plus, a lot of the above served to drive a wedge between Connor and the rest, making it easier for Cordy to control him.

Say, why didn't the Bringers attack Faith while she was here? She wasn't exactly hard to track, and they've been able to run down girls who didn't even know they were potentials, yet."

Actually, Faith was attacked by fellow inmate with the same kind of dagger the Bringers use while in the prison yard. She mentions it to Willow back on Buffy while they're driving back from LA.

Spoiler

SPOILERS:

I watched Jay Leno last night, and Lawrence Fishburn was his guest. He said his wife (Gina Torres) had just finished shooting a four-episode arc on Angel.

Guess she *won't* be back. Thought it could be of interest to some.

I know that; then they stopped. Let me see if I get this straight: against fairly defenseless girls, the First sends two to three self-mutilated bringers. Against a slayer, they send a knife and a $50 to an inmate, and then forget about her when she's vulnerable and walking around LA while it's Hell on Earth. I can think of reasons why, but none of them were bandied about....and if the First was going to be on Angel, we should have seen more of a threat than we did.

If you accept that the First was going to appear to the AI folks like that, then you have to figure why it didn't press the advantage when it had the chance to. In short, it was just a hook to get Faith where she needed to be. Angel already has plenty of hooks to return to Sunnydale. The First would have been lame, used as a deus ex machina like that, IMHO.

Just so we all don't feel left out....Got this from a reliable source (at least reliable in that he's a major buffy and angel fan plus he read this off a website. But it seems accurate to me.)

The season finale of Angel will conclude with the DEATH of Conner. (Joy!) But also Angel driving off into the sunset, seeing Conner with a new family and also happy.

The series finale of Buffy will be like this: The First WILL be killed, the Uberslayer weapon and the other two slayers (Faith and Buffy) will used. Angel's appearance there will be more of a hey "I stopped over, please don't die." Buffy says "It's my choice." Kisses Angel to piss off Spike. Spike dies and goes to Hell. The potentials and the Slayers end up coming back in 2012 (end of the Mayan Calendar) to kick up stuff and start a new kind of beginning.

So that's what I can remember. Hope that helps.
