Angel - 4/30 (SPOILERS)

but I'm pretty sure it's the First come to L.A. Let's not forget that Wes chopped up Lyla's body! I can't wait till next week!!!

But, to me, that would feel very tacked on and cheesy. I know some folks have been trying for some time to make the linkage, but it's just so darned flimsy. If they were going to really do it, they should have done it earlier and more significantly.

To wit:

Lilah:"Hi, I'm the First! I'm gonna destroy the world."

Angel:"Ummm, sorry, who?"

Lilah:"The First! I'm totally evil and creepy, but in a non-scary sort of way, compared to Jasmine's much more intimidating and subtle evil. I'm kind of like Glory, but without the skimpy outfits or actual momentum."

Angel:"Yeah, great. And you're here, why?"

Lilah:"To get you over to the series finale of Buffy, of course."

Angel:"Oh, right. Say, what were you gonna do about the whole Jasmine rules the world thing? I mean, she's been manipulating events for years, and you're obviously not really up on the game. Heck, I'm suprised Jasmine didn't forsee your intervention and put a stop to you, somehow, or that Caleb guy."

(pregnant pause)

(awkward silence, while Lilah coughs)

Lilah:"Well, it's all part of my...um, clever plan."

Angel:"Right, right. Got it. Say, why didn't the Bringers attack Faith while she was here? She wasn't exactly hard to track, and they've been able to run down girls who didn't even know they were potentials, yet."

(another pause)

Lilah:"umm...Ha HA! The only way you'll discover the truth, is to come to Sunnydale! Mwa-ha-ha-ha!"

Angel:"(sigh) What are you, the count from Sesame Street? Fine, I'm going. Turn off the lights on the way out, willya?"

:D

Further, doesn't Lilah open the window revealing the daylight on Angel in the teaser? The First can't touch or affect things.

Connor sucks. he whines way too much and just when i was actually starting to like him last night, he was an idiot and wlaked away from his father. That "I was born in a hell dimension" BS is getting old. He was shown proof Holtz was evil and that Angel and Company are actually trying to do the right thing.

I was shocked to realize Jasmine really did want to end all the pain in the world and Angel ruined it all.

It rminded me of Christopher Walken's character in Propphecy:

"Its amazing how much some of us Angels hate you. We were first. We were Gods favorite. Then he created you and gave you free will. You despise him, turn your back on him, hate him and even dont believe in him, yet, he still loves you unconditionally. All because you ahve Free Will."

And Lilah was always my favorite. Im so glad she is back!

I disagree. I liked that he made a conscious (although poor) choice.

"And build me a temple. A massive one, but cozy." :p

Good one, WizarDru... I agree with you that it's lame, but that's got to be the First.

Don't get fooled by teasers. Remember we saw Angel and Fred making out in a teaser... that turned out to be nothing. It could be a dream, a vision, or whatever.

All I know is, no way Lyla is back as a ghost/demon/whatever. It's the First, for better or worse.

How? Each show ultimately needs to stand on it's own. The fact that they're on separate networks makes it even more important.

Can you give a plausible theory as to how the First can show up in the last episode of Angel in any meaningful way to that show?

actually i know whats going on in the final episode. We find out May 12th if WB is picking Angel up again. All i know is that ....

1. if it doesnt get picked up, it will have a good ending.

2. if it does get picked up, they can continue it.

3. lilah isnt the first. Someone reminded me of an episode where Liah was talking about a certain contract she had signed. When you work for Wolfram and Hart, you dont just die. No, they have plans for you even in death.

Think about it. All the zombies that came back, other things that Wolfram and Hart have done. Its like selling your soul to Satan. When you die, they still have your soul.

If anyone wants to know the full story, ill divulge

Don't tell me any spoilers, Angelsboi... but what you wrote gives me hope. I'm with WizarDru on this: if it is the First, it's kind of lame. So here's hopin'!

Actually, there is more evidence that she's not... it seems likely that Willow told the crew about the First when she had her guest appearance. So if it was the First, why would Wes and the gang be so happy to see her and let her into the hotel?

So, assuming it's not the First and W&H brought Lyla's chopped, dismembered, and very dead body back.... all I can say is, "Waaaaa?"

1. They didnt let her in. She was already there.

2. All ill say is that my friend brought up something Lilah said about her, a contract and Wolfram and Hart ages ago in an episode. There answers your waaa?

Thanks for resolving that, and not giving spoilers.

This intrigues me, the direction they could be taking this all in. I hope it provides an effective denoument (sp?) for the season. I really didn't expect Jasmine to be out of the picture so fast, though I'm happy with the way it was handled. I'm now curious what's up with Lilah, then, and can't wait for the season finale.

Excellent episode, except for the teaser with Lilah. She was an over played villain. She was not genius level intelligence, complex, or unique. She was good for a while, but her character does not warrant any more screen time.

WB better pick this show back up, this and Smallville are the only two shows I watch with any regularity.
