Then the animated shield came along and he was going to get my schtick at only 2 pt AC cost....
Not even that if your enhancement bonuses are normally obtained from the party's cleric buffing everyone with magic vestments.

Thus proving he's not actually extremely reasonable.
You'd think, but given how we were using the reach weapons, I was somewhat sympathetic to his ruling. It was not completely unjustified.

Well yeah, sure. That is would be adding insult to injury, but my point would stand even without magic vestment.

I like the idea of 'dancing' because you have to do the 3 rds of it and that's a serious commitment in combat. Basically it would turn the no brainer element into tactical thinking with advantages/disadvantages - and that is part of d&d that excites me. :)

Yes, changing Animated to dancing would be a good way to do it. I think I will houserule it that way.

Hmm, let me know how that works out in actual play will ya? Sometimes I've found a bit of a difference between seemingly elegant houserules and what happens once the players have finished mangling it

Try an animated, bashing, slinging, returning, dancing shield. you flip it at someone, it keeps flting over and hitting them, and you still get the AC bonus. :D Kraft Shield, it's the cheesiest!

I'm surprised at the spread. That's pretty cool as I had thought I was somewhat alone on the "floaty shields" issue as I know very few people who complain about them as bitterly as I do. IMC, floaty shields are banned.

Totally illegal by the rules you mean. How will you get the ac bonus when the shield returns when it does?

How were you using reach weapons that was so flatulently abusive of the rules? I may want to try the same tricks on my DM. :]
