I'm trying to find some good divination spells for a player. Can anyone recommend useful, fun or interesting high-lvl divinations that aren't in the PhB, and thus I've probably missed?
As greater scrying, but sufficiently subtle that normal observation cannot detect the magical sensor. Even magical and other extraordinary means that would normally reveal your scrying without error require a successful Scry check against a DC of 25. In addition, you may cast telepathic bond and true seeing through the sensor.
Material Components: The eye of an eagle, hawk or roc, plus at least 100 gp worth of crushed sapphire.
There are some areas that really lack spells for all purposes.
I always though that a good divination spell of high level would be a precognition that would let you know where a thing would be in a space in a specified time. Would work wonders for tactics and give the DM nice caveats for how the PCs got ambushed.
I was thinking of things like "what are they doing now?", a spell that gives you a play-by-play of someone's actions. Other possibilities include long-distance mind-reading.
But dang, there aren't many high level divination spells, are there? And there should be. Anyone know of others?
Discern location is awesomely powerful. See Sepulchrave's story hours for examples of its use.
You might allow a powerful Diviner to use some of the, umm, divine spells. Find the path (Clr 6) is always nice (especially in the Tomb of Horrors, remember?). Brain spider (Clr 8, DotF) has a stupid name but is nonetheless a useful divination spell for magical eavesdropping.
The Kingdoms of Kalamar Player’s Guide has a 6th level divination, probe thoughts, which is basically detect thoughts on crack; no high-level diviner should be without it.
On the WotC site, in the Spellbook area is the spell "Hindsight." Lets you look at the events at your location, you can choose days, weeks, years, or centuries to look at but your level of detail goes down as you expand the time frame.
