Spellwarp Sniper from Complete Scoundrel.

Fifth level allows you to apply precision damage out to 60' when part of a ray spell.

spellwarp sniper is nuts, hrmm where was i reading, i dunno if anyone can tell me, that your sneak attack damage counts as the type of damage your attack is doing? it was something official from wizards i believe, i'll try to find it. So when you sneak attack with a ray of exhaustion, you ...just....win

bestone - the weaponlike spells section of CArc has that.

Order of the Bow Initiate - one of the levels you get range of precision damage doubled I believe is the word used (which will typically be out to 60ft).

I'm fairly sure the "same type as the damage" means things like energy damage, not ability damage or negative levels. Only a rules lawyer could possibly think otherwise. Of course, this IS the forum for rules lawyers, I guess.

Level 10 Order of the Bow Initiatite gets Ranged Precision to 60 feet. It's kinda funny that the ultimate ability of a powerful PrC becomes the 5th level ability of a later PrC... a sign that "power creep" is real I guess!

Edit: I guess the spellwarp sniper ability is specialized enough not to be too powerful. Lots of things can still strike back from 60 feet at level 10+.

In fact, it includes ability damage and negative levels, as per the weaponlike spells section of CArc, providing an attack roll is required. It doesn't include penalties or spells that do not require attack rolls.

It's laid out in Complete Arcane.

A sneak attack with a shortsword adds +xd6 piercing damage. A sneak attack with a Ray of Frost adds +xd6 cold damage. A sneak attack with a spell that deals ability damage or negative levels does not add +xd6 negative levels; rather, it adds +xd6 negative energy damage to hit points.

It's not specified in BoVD or Complete Arcane, but Monte Cook recommended when asked that a sneak attack with an attack that deals solely vile damage (for example, a Vile Lance spell) should not add +xd6 vile damage, but rather +xd6 untyped damage.

If you are playing a straight rogue without any levels of a spell caster or want to take any levels of OBI then Crossbow Sniper is the way to go. Mix it with dead eye shot, rapid reload and telling blow. You can make a pretty decent ranged rogue build that way.
