D&D 4E Anyone know if KQ is going 4e?

I hope they become the unofficial magazine of the Pathfinder game (by that I mean a 3rd party (non-Paizo) catering to the game).

The last time I checked the KQ forums Mr. Bauer looks to be moving away from supporting D&D 4e. Since the GSL would prevent him from offering both OGL and GSL material together, and since most of his audience wants support of D&D 3.5 and Pathfinder, I doubt he will be supporting D&D 4e any time soon. Well, except for the one Open Design project that was patron sponsored for 4e.

I've been given a semi-regular feature in the magazine, and he hasn't said anything to me about making it 4E compatible. I'm pretty sure the answer is no.

I'm pretty sure the answer is no.

I fully understand why Wolf would choose to go that route, given some of the ugly provisions of the GSL. But from a purely personal perspective, I have to say I'm disappointed. I really enjoyed the one bit of work I did for KQ, and I was really hoping to be able to do more. (Plus, I just loved the mag as a fan, not just as a writer.)

But as I said, I get why he'd choose not to.

Are you not allowed to do 3.5 stuff?

Oh, I'm allowed to, absolutely. But the simple, brutal truth is, I don't want to. I find designing for 4E to be much more enjoyable, and much more to my taste, under something like 85% of circumstances, if not more. (It's the only reason I haven't been pestering Paizo for work.)

If I ever have a large gap in my schedule where I can't find any 4E work (or fiction work), I'm not saying I'll never go back to 3.5 design no matter what--but I don't think it likely, and it's not something I especially want to do.

I actually have exactly the same perspective, only in reverse. I recently withdrew a 4th edition proposal from a publisher that was tentatively going to move forward with it because I have no interest in designing for that game. At least not at this time. If the Pathfinder RPG does well enough, probably not ever. 4E leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
