Anyone planning to go to GenCon 2003?

I'll be going. My husband and two other of my players are talking about it too, but whatever they decide, I'll be there. No way am I going to miss the Ennies!

What a great attitude Butttercup, seriously always a pleasure to see your posts. The ENnies were a blast, when Chris Pramas and I made jokes about Freeport vs. Bluffside etc...classic time with great people, was one of the highlights of 2002's GenCon! I will be there for sure, we have ordered a booth double the size so we will have demo's running most of the time.

Very exciting time I must say!

Plus first time in Indy and Peter has GenCon back, 2003 will rock.

I would love to go but distance may kill me this year. Too much going on to make a commitment, and if you do not preregister for events, it is not worth the drive. I hope to go though.

I dunno, I'm hoping to go to Dragon*Con again this year, depending on whether the Bards get invited back. I don't think I can make both cons, allthough it would be cool.

Maybe just Maybe, I'll ahve to double in with another artist probably...did Gen Con once by myself...woo the price of the booth was tense.

Looking forward to being there!

On the other hand, if you want to stay in one of the downtown hotels, you're talking about $175 per night for a room.

Just for other peoples' reference, I got my rooms reserved for my posse for $145 a night at the Embassy Suites, supposedly within a block or two of the convention center (anyone here want to verify that for me so I can make sure the travel agent didn't lie to me?). The GenCon folks are supposedly setting something up for special rates for convention-goers, but I went ahead and got my reservations now just to be safe.

I'm driving from Tennessee, so it should be about 6 hours. I'd reccommend anyone within that radius doing the same for cheapness sake.

The Embassy Suites downtown is very close to the Convention Center... about one block north and one block east, to be exact.

A Yahoo! Map

The convention Center is in the northern part of the area marked as the RCA Dome.

There are some hotels within walking distance that aren't too expensive including a Hampton Inn, a Comfort Inn, and a few others.

That's what I said. Heather doesn't want to deal with a 5 and 2 year old though, so no dice. Maybe in another year or two.

My 3 and 2 year old will be there for one of the days (with my parents) and I laughed because you know you are a gamer when...

you laugh at a "no dice" line.

I forgot to put (pun intended). :) That's funny because I laughed after I typed it. Being a gamer is good.
