The exploding chicken is indistinguishable from an ordinary chicken, until it explodes that is.
The exploding chicken was created by the insane transmuter Alik the Fish (and with a name like that, who can blame him) whose other creations include the electric sheep and the talking horse.
Combat:
Exploding chickens are very cowardly, and attempt to flee if attacked.
Explode (Su): If reduced to 0 hp or less, the exploding chicken explodes in a 20’ radius fireball (which in turn might detonate other exploding chickens nearby) that deals 6d6 points of fire damage. Rumor has it that Alik created other types of exploding chickens that deal other forms of energy damage.
