D&D 4E Are Lizardfolk Confirmed for 4e?

Basically the title says it all... are Lizardfolk mentioned anywhere in the 4e canon yet? I have always liked Lizardfolk... in fact, although I don't mind Dragonborn, I'd rather have had my favorite big primitive lizard-men be in the core playable classes... ;)

Well, it looks like dragonborn stole their spot to be first in line as a PC race. I suspect they are going to be relegated to monster status, as neanderthals are to humans.

No guarantees, but considering that they are redesigning troglodytes as notably different that other lizard races, they would kinda NEED something to be different from.

Lizardfolk wont be a PHB race without ruining them. Their natural armor is a bit too high and they are supposed to eat whoever dies in combat, friend or foe.

They might make an appearance in the psionics book, as they are presented in Spelljammer.

Can you clarify that? I don't remember spelljammer as having anything in particular to do with psi stuff, so I'm not sure why you're linking the two concepts.

I can see them giving lizardfolk a miss. Between trogs and dragonborn, there isn't much design space. Not with everything else they want to get in the first book, anyway. And there is certainly a glut of humanoids at the low levels...

So play a Dragonborn from a primitive culture. Even if Lizardmen are in the MM the Dragonborn will certainly have better racial options and a more extensive writeup.

As for your question, I haven't see any mention of them, but I'm sure there's lots of the 300 monsters in the MM1 that haven't been mentioned yet. They may be in there, and they're enough of a staple to definitely make it into MM2.

There are several ways to power a spelljammer. Psionics is one such method. The lizardfolk used that method. They were distinct culturally from regular lizardmen, but ultimately were of the same stock, with a predisposition for psionics.

I don't have anything against the Dragonborn -- they do make a better PC class. I'm just hoping Lizardfolk haven't been eliminated altogether, seeing as they look pretty similar to Dragonborn but are more brutish (the human-neanderthal comparison is apt). And seeing as Troglodytes are still in. I doubt they'll be eliminated entirely, but I hope they're in MM1.

I feel the same way.

What I'm now wondering is how they will change them into 4E. Maybe they will have chameleon skin as a default.
