Also, isn't Cepheus under the OGL via Mongoose Traveller?

I have the recent slipcased version of Masks (amazing product!) and will run it for my players starting sometime during 2024.You can't go wrong with Masks. Which version are you using? They came out with a truly massive, massive expansion version of Masks a few years ago. If interested, you can read the recap on my blog here:

The Complete Masks of Nyarlathotep (Call of Cthulhu)
About, oh, 2008 or so I ran the Complete Masks of Nyarlathotep campaign for the Call of Cthulhu horror roleplaying game. It took a total of 1.5 years and 35 sessions of roughly 4 hours apiece for …jmhauser.com
This is the new revised edition. I would use this one if I ran it again, but I don't have time to invest a couple years into the same story, so I would personally go with Serpent for Pulp Cthulhu.

And the problem with that is?Hillarious to me are the people who are abandoning D&D to play a game that only exists because of the OGL license. Whether you CHOOSE not to purchase new D&D books, or CAN'T purchase new Pathfinder/DCC/OSE books, you're gonna be reliant on your ingenuity to expand the game.
I'm an old-timer as well, not quite as old-timer as you, but the concept of referees who need published rules is a bit surprising to me.And the problem with that is?
OK, I'm an old-timer, who started playing in 1979. But the concept of DMs who need published adventures is a bit surprising to me.
I jumped ship to Pathfinder on Second Edition's release (see see me around here mostly for the General DND type conversations that have the overlap), looking at the poll, welcome to the potential new people to my fave system?
I'm not OP, but I actually expected more representation for just about every option on the poll-- a subset of people running for a slew of PBTA games, Cortex, Fate, etc.Not exactly a surprise that the top result for switching from 5e is the most 5e-like of all presented options. DCC and OSE aren't even up there. Did you expect a sudden spike in Dungeon World interest?
Nerull's black balls! I'd hope you have things figured out after 40+ years. And the problem with that is?

Just run it with a different system.I'm not going D&D 5E again without a pretty serious climbdown, and it's honestly a pity, because I was intending to run a Shadow of the Dragonlords campaign and come back to 5E after I'd stopped for a year or so.
I'm not sure what I'll run instead. Keep going with Spire for sure for now but I did want to do some epic fantasy. Hmph.

If you want a Dark Sun book to port to another system just get the 4e one.The only WotC product I would have considered buying in the foreseeable future is a new Dark Sun book. Even then I'd most likely port it to another system.
I genuinely wonder if we're going to hit a point where playing 5e/OneD&D/etc. is stigmatized. Not just by long-time haters like me, but by a bigger portion of the hobby. Once certain brands become toxic enough (Big Tobacco, Facebook, etc) they never really recover. They can still make money, for sure, but not like they used to.
