D&D 5E Are you sick of the Swordcoast?

An MtG setting would be fine fir 16 to 32 pages, but you couldn't most traditional D&D settings properly in that few pages, they are too big with too much ground to cover.

True, but I want a snapshot that captures the feel. I don’t want an encyclopedia of setting. I want to play D&D not become a setting historian. The 3e FR setting book I thought was really good but a lot of it was pretty useless.

The best way to explain it would be if a third or half of the PHB were dedicated to calculating and tracking encumbrance.

I vote for Spelljammer.

If WotC is going to do more Realms then Sembia is an area that comes to mind that hasn't really been detailed in a game product that I know of. I know it was originally supposed to be left a blank slate but having read the novels in the early 2000s I wanted to see more detail given to it.

The 3E FRCS is probably the best comprehensive book on the Realms you'll find in a single book. I thought it was a pretty good balance of lore and mechanics for the first 3E setting. It was definitely better than the 1E or 2E boxes IMO.

Nope. But then I'm not running an actual FR campaign either. So whatever they publish I'm good. I'll just loot the bits I like & ignore the rest. Same as always.
And if I decide I need a bit they haven't covered yet in 5e? Well, between 1e/2e & 3x I'm sure it's in my bookshelf somewhere.

D&D is a roleplaying game without any restrictions on the storylines. Why would you allow yourself to get sick of the Swordcoast when you can start another story at any location whenever you want? You can place your next adventure in the fantasy version of your own backyard if you like.

No, stay with the Sword Coast. Leave the rest of the sandbox for the rest of us. Or better yet, re-do Greyhawk. Yeah, Greyhawk is where all the official 5E products should be set! Definitely.
